The HUN have remarkably just caught on to the fact that you can wathc most games, not all, live on the internet.

The Networks have only themselves to blame.
The programmers should be sacked...period.
They should look long and hard at the false "viewer ratings" they pay dearly for as well. I think they are fiction.

The fact is if not for these "free" streams I would not get to see many games at all and most games I would get to see on FTA would be "delayed".

Now I don't mind waiting 30 minutes to watch a game but to have to sit through the shit they put on first rankles me no end.
Better Homes and Gardens and then Heartbeat is agonising and it also negates my children watching as well due to the late finish.
Having to watch every Sydney game also pisses me off.
I don't live in Sydney and don't give a rats toss unless the Pies are playing them.

Time for the AFL to put down the foot and insist that FTA show all games live or the worst on 30 minute delay, this is really so they can program the ads in the suit each region, which would seem fair enough.

The new TV rights deal should have a stipulation that if you buy then you must show the games.

I want my AFL-TV!!!

Angry of Mayfair.

worse still are the ENDLESS Bunnings ads !

they do my frigging head in:thumbsdown:

and sometimes they go to a 2-3 minute break between goals

Its a disgrace i agree when you start your coverage at 2:30 and the game is on at 2:40 and they ramble on about nothing for 30 minutes when they can play it live.

The broadcast starts at 2:30pm, the game starts at 2:40pm. If there is a delay, it's hard to say how long it will be.

If you are in Victoria and a big enough Collingwood supporter to care about the delay, you should be at the MCG on Sunday, where the delay will be determined by what's between your ears :D

And this exactly what to do with Collingwood? Do you want Eddie to wave a magic wand or something?

I assume you watch Collingwood games when you can't attend?

This is everything to do with Collingwood.

If the AFL games were not on FTA TV I would never change channels from ABC.

In today's society of high speed internet on the World Wide Web, the International coverage of AFL games is an absolute disgrace. I've been living away from Australia for 2 years now- I tried life as a paid up member of Aussiesport TV (the ONLY legal way for antipodeans to view AFL) and found that watching a match between 24 and 48 hours after the result did not even get close to sating my appetite. I'd pay $10 a week to watch just one match live yet the AFL remains in the dark ages and are out casting avid supporters.

Having said all that, I've been using Justin tv (along with another unnamed source) this year and absolutely loving it. My concern right now is that obviously the AFL, being the rocket scientists that they are, have caught onto Justin TV and to the best of my knowledge, the Adelaide v Essendon game was not shown there last night.... Could anyone with any other net based avenues private message me? I have one other site that I'll happily share though it has not proven as reliable as JTV. Thanx in advance.

I don't know about any other streams, other than the "unnammed one", but I did watch the adelaide essendon game on justin.tv no problems this morning. I really don't think the AFL are going to be able to shut them down, at least not this final series as Justin.tv have all their info hidden and their registrar is not going to sell them out, would be hard to trace the IP and I am sure the AFL have other things to worry about at the moment. Hopefully the AFL will do the smart thing and just work on developing their own live streaming during the off season. I can't imagine too many people are streaming the games locally as the two streams are located in places that seem most likely to have delayed telecasts in any case. I don't see how there is a big loss of advertising money when streaming the games, they obviously just didn't have the foresight to include it in their TV deal.

espn360.com is showing the woods game live - pretty sure it's blocked in Australia but you might be lucky in Britain.
Please don't discuss the live stream!!! Someone please close this thread!!! :(

I'm in New York City, and I have access to ESPN360 and my download speed is great (40mb/s) so the quality is fantastic. However, most ISP's here in the US cannot access ESPN360 under any circumstances as it is a free service for some people, and not a paid service for all people.

I live in a part of Manhattan where many other Aussies are living, and there are Aussie pubs and restaurants around, and these people rely on the stream ever since Setanta Sports decided to end their TV deal a month ago due to their financial problems. The more it is discussed, the more attention it attracts!!!

I have live outside Australia for the better part of 15 years now and will not be coming back any time soon, so I have needed to find access to games for awhile.

I can't believe the AFL continue to ignore the international fans, especially with the ease that something could be set up to watch a live feed.

I would gladly pay my afl.com membership to get all the benefits of watching each game 24 hours later, interviews, etc.. I would then gladly pay an upgrade fee to allow me to watch games live each week. Base it on how many games you want to watch live each week or a set price.

They have to be smart enough to know that it will not affect TV ratings in Australia or attendances as who would rather watch it on a computer screen rather than the big TV?? No-one!! (maybe carlscum supporters), it is only us diehards living overseas that want the option of sitting at our computers.

I mentioned earlier that the AFL site contacted me regarding streaming coverage of the finals and changes that are coming up in the next few days. I will keep people posted if I hear from them again.

I have 2.5 Mb/sec and get it fine. I woulnd't be surprised if you could get it on 1M as well. Also it's licenced and legal so what's the problem??

Maybe the minimum speed required would be about 600kb/s for 300k live video. I have no idea why only some ISP's here in the US have a deal with ESPN360. If it was a paid service for all people in the US, then that would be great.
Any people posting links please edit your posts and just tell people to PM you for them. I feel sorry for all the people outside Australia who don't get to see their beloved Magpies because the websites keep getting shut down. So please edit your posts!
Yes I agree with this! I know how I felt when Setanta Sports stopped their TV coverage a month ago, and there are many that are now left with nothing because they cannot access ESPN360.

I'm not sure if you are also talking about the espn360 site, but if so I still haven't got a reply to why that should be kept secret. If you have a reason and it seems reasonable I'll edit my posts.

I assume the reason that some ISP's have it is that they pay royalties to either espn or afl or both - it's probably the bigger ISP's because it probably costs a lot.

The main streaming sites are now down, citing copywrite infringement.
PLEASE - In future, if anyone needs streaming info, please IM it, not post it in public boards. Many of us outside Oz now have no access to watch any games live.(If I were to ever go down the path of watching streaming video from unofficial sites, which clearly I would never contemplate).
