Interesting that nobody here has picked this up, from television scribe Robert Fidgeon writing in yesterday's Herald Sun:

THE AFL draw is out for 2007, with the biggest change for TV viewers being the weekly Sunday twilight game, which will screen on Ten.

If this eventuates, I can see Wallsy and Huddo crossing live to Gretel Killeen in the Big Brother house at half time for a preview for the upcoming eviction.

The way reality TV rules the airwaves it would probably be Gretel crossing to Wallsy and Huddo for a score update.

Well, I've been enjoying watching the Champions Trophy and Ford Ranger Cup on Fox Sports over the last few weeks. Sky News is not a bad source of AFL news this time of year when you live in Qld, too. You won't get an AFL story on free to air. As far as the FTA channels were concerned the only player traded this year was Jason Akermanis.

Inside Cricket isn't a bad watch either. I suppose if you want to watch a dozen different types of CSI and police video shows that were shown on Pay TV 3 or 4 years ago, though, FTA is your baby. Funniest Home Videos last Saturday night, along with Russell Gilbert hosting repeats of The Benny Hill Show, Are You Being Served etc would have been much more exciting than watching Australia v England in the Champions Trophy. Credit where credit is due, though, Channel 7 are at least showing The Best & Worst of Red Faces this Saturday night.

maybe this could spell the end of BB?

Unfortunately not.......

24 October 2006
Network Ten (TEN) and Endemol Southern Star (ESS) today announced that the long-running hit, Big Brother, would return to Australian screens in 2007.

TEN’s chief executive officer, Grant Blackley, said: "Big Brother is an enormous, enduring franchise; no other program delivers the volume of television for and ratings share among viewers under-40.

"We are delighted to confirm Big Brother will be back in 2007."

Southern Star Group chief executive officer Hugh Marks said: "Big Brother is truly unique.

"Each year our talented production team have the wonderful ability to reinvent the show to respond to what our audiences want to see.

"Big Brother will continue to entertain audiences for many years to come."

I was at a resturant on Saturday night and they had that 'classic show' crap on channel 7 - and I had to wait until I got home to see what was going on in the cricket. Currently there are only about 3 shows a week I watch on FTA - apart from that it's foxtel all the way.

BTW. Foxtel haven't reported a thing (that I've seen) on the AFL's TV rights situation - they know it's a conflict of interest and have let it be. Relying on foxtel for information beats relying on FTA - but really the internet is the number 1 source for news.
