We're not doing Weiters any favors by swinging him back on a guy thats kicked 6 when he's spent the majority of the season up forward.

Not convinced this forward experiment and using him as a swingman in his second year is how we should be developing him. I'd be much more comfortable seeing him spend the year down back with the odd stint up forward.

Agree 100%. Hate the swingman idea. We should establish a solid back line and Weitering should be the full back.

Saw a few thing I didn't like - Cripps look wrecked, give the guy a rest for a week.

We still need big bodied inside mids to help

Too much is being asked of Weitering lately - he's expected to be Mr Fixit at both ends

Dale Thomas. What. The. Heck.
I could hit up those passes better on my left foot barefoot. And I'm not a leftie. Surely this is his last one for a week or two?!?
Daisy was really poor tonight. Time for a tap on the shoulder I would have thought.

Predictably cut to ribbons by their half-backs breaking the lines with pace. No answer from us - whatever qualities our back six have brought this year, speed isn't one of them. That we were as competitive as we were is down to sheer tenacity. Seeing Special K, Rowe and Levi in the forward line told me we had nothing left in the bag of tricks.

Also, Lynch is a jet. His first few steps are very quick, and he can change direction on a dime. Throw Princes Hill at him.

...or maybe the blame is with our midfield which allowed their midfielders to cut us up in the third quarter, and get the ball to Lynch.

No doubt our midfield got smashed and was part of the reason they were able to so easily deliver it forward.

But think about it, when Rowe was on Lynch, it was Lynch running rampant in first half.

When we restructured our defence to try and block the hole in front of Lynch, it freed up their other forwards who were mostly quiet to that point, and they started running rampant.

When we switched weiters down back and Rowe up forward, we stabilised their scoring and held even with them for rest of match

Can't keep bringing kids in atm.

There's 4 months of footy left, (bugger counting games), it's a matter of player management.

People carry on about 'gotta play this kid', in 6 weeks we won't have any 'gotta play him' kids, where does that leave us?

Would expect one of Palmer/Kerridge to be thrown over the trench next week.
Couldnt we just keep rotating the kids in and out of the side Cuningham Polson and Sheehan havent played a game yet bring them in for a stint . Give Macreadie a spell drop Thomas maybe another youngun . Dont see the point in Palmer Thomas and Kerridge as we'll have more kids drafted next year need to get games into our kids asap ? .

OMIT
Thomas

REST/MANAGE
Macreadie
Weitering
Cripps
Petrevski-Seton

IN
Polson
Graham/Palmer
Sheehan
Kerridge
McKay/Jaksch

Consecutive 6 day breaks and away in Adelaide, realistically we will be about $6.00 with the satchel swingers next week.

Time for some list management to ensure our youth makes it through the season without breaking down.

For everyone saying play the kids have a look at this:
Plowman 22 & 42
Interesting that you've put Plowman there but not Cripps, who is younger and only played a half dozen more games.

We shouldn't be so reliant on him to dominate in order for us to win, and really need to get support around him at the end of the year.

So out provided no one else in injured
Daisy, Macreadie (inj) white

In KJ, Bucks, Kerridge

Bucks - Rowe - Williamson
Doc - Marchbank - Plowman
Simpson - Cripps - SPS
SOS - Weitering- Pickett
Wright - Cas - KJ
Kruz - Murph - Gibbs
E. Curnow - C.Curnow - Fisher Kerridge

Play CC as an inside mid to take some stoppage pressure off Cripps

Weiters can go back if required and we can still play a Capable forward line

Bucks for speed and someone to play on the smalls (Sheehan an option but would need an upgrade?) and Kerridge (yes I know) for defensive work rate

We can't carry Thomas anymore......

I'm in Bali and pissed as a fart but I will say this ... we are 5 points up, Levi takes a mark with a kick that should be slotted and he kicks it out on the full ..... it goes to shit from there .....

I AM ******* OVER HIM BEING IN THE TEAM!

TOTAL AND UTTER MOMENTUM KILLER.

End rant.

Sorry for the swearing.

It's a 9 month footy season, half these kids can't get through 3 quarters and I don't blame them.

Eventually there is a tipping point.

Like last year, we'll get to the bye and that's it.

Older guys, as awful as they are, have the bodies to know what's ahead.

He's 195cm and 96kg. He aint ever going to be quick. And he's still 19 years old. He copped a heavy knock against Richmond and Essendon, and was off the ground again tonight looking very sore. He's the least of our problems.
There's not quick, then...

I will grant him some grace in that he's perhaps struggling to adjust to the physicality of the game, and is only a kid. But the frequency of his apparent serious knocks/niggles is extraordinary.

Perhaps his 30 year old demeanour makes me expect more.

Does the frequency in which he comes off the ground injured not concern you? It's happening too much to be coincidence. Every game this year he limps off like a soccer player/amputee, then comes good after 20 mins out of the game. Sounds odd, but I actually hope he's genuinely injured and not, well, soft.

I hope he becomes the star we want him to be, really, but this concerns me.

Run out of legs in the 3rd.

Fish was great. Sos good. Too many slow players. Should have played Pickett on hall as a defensive fwd.

Need polson and cunners in next week.

Keep rowe forward and jw back. Prefer him getting 20 touches at full back. Need him and marchy to sort out defensive chemistry.

Daisy and white out please. Enough is enough. KJ for one last month to prove himself.

Ins cunners, Polson, kj

Outs daisy, white and macreadie (if injured only)

Crippa looks like he needs a week off too. Nowhere near 50%

Both had mares tonight. Neither were good. Id still leave Weitering forward.

Big week of recovery coming up, showed what happens to a pack of kids on a short break after a wet slog, legs (and some arms) looked they were made of concrete in second half, was as slow and spent as I have ever seen a side and still had nearly half a game to play. The ability to go with GS didn't just wear down, it just stopped suddenly. Had no fuel to do anything about it. Gold Coast identified, ran harder and outnumbered us to the switch before we could even move the ball half way across. Players often ran past ours for uncontested marks. Not surprising Fisher and Charlie looked our freshest in third, but was wondering why they were placed so far from the action during that quarter. Another short week plus travel coming up. The green shoots have been great but hoping some more balance with mature run comes in or expect a similar display next week. Need to priority midfield rotations asap.

Loved Silvagni's game, just gets to the right places.

A pity that broken TV in the bar will cost you $500 but Levi ended up with 3 goals for the night.

I think we've largely been proactive as we can't just load up on kids from the get go but surely it's time to bring in Sheehan for White.
White may seduce us with one reasonable game in 5, but he adds very little otherwise.

Time to lop another non-performer off next week, or maybe even two with Thomas. No harm done. Pass the baton. It's O.K.
