So depressing following this football team knowing exactly what frustrations you are going to experience for 3 hours every weekend yet continuing to front up to cop it. Just have to be very, very patient and wait for the wheels to turn.
Seeing little bits like 2MP back, young Dawson not looking out of place is “pleasing”, but then the skill errors and turnovers with Day’s shoulder injury to diminish our KPP stocks some more :'(

Reckon our young kids did well out there today against men - ainsworth, Wright, Leslie, Ballard - as they grow we’re gonna be scary good.

After 30 years of spending money on and supporting the Giants Seagulls Chargers Rollers Blaze Titans Suns GCU can I please have whatever it is that you are taking

We have a good forward line with lynch, 2mp, Martin, ahchee, Ainsworth, lemmens. We lack quality ball users in the middle and the current game plan is too defensive forcing all our mids into defense. Instead on breaking the line and linking too our forwards in the forward line.

Hahaha well I figure if Carlton and Brisbane are getting flogged and are “Re-building” - I can cut our boys some slack as one of the youngest sides in the league.

Our team lacks confidence as much as our fans do, and we both tend to listen to the dribble from the Melbourne media than what’s actually going on.

Our mids can be competitive for a quarter but we totally lack the depth and class through there to match it with any team bar Carlton - our best chance for one more win this year IMO.

Just can’t see us turning the midfield around in one offseason unless Cameron and Dew are miracle workers.

You just can't replace Ablett and Saad with Young and Holman hoping for a better result.

We are a young club still and you are essentially right
Each tough season actually means that when it does turn we will be mentally tougher to value and nurture it both on and off the paddock

Exactly my man! Can’t wait to be in Melbourne in a few years time to shove that cup up a few journalists asses

If i have to watch another goaless quarter im going vomit. Its just pathetic. They know how to score but just fall back to dump kicks that only help the opposition because they can't win a contest to save themselves.

Harbrow is the only one that is dynamic and unpredictable.

I cant see anything else happening at the end of the year. Lynch will leave and we'll get some b grader and some draft picks. Im so sick of draft picks. Even if we get a top kid he'll probably want out.

Sorry about being so negative but i think i've snapped after 8 years of this ****

I agree mate it’s hard to go through

We’re basically on a constant rebuild as they mature and leave us for down south.

On the plus side the younger kids seem really keen to extend their contracts under dewy - hopefully a mix of better facilities, better coach and better money keeps the core of it together

That is true about the facilities and coach. Hopefully it comes together. Going to be a bit painful in the mean time

Might as well rebuild properly no point waste time and money on trade in , Young and Holman basically holding two spot from the list from young players . Just go into the draft and pick state league players and young players and rebuild the squad completely.
I actually rate Holman - can’t fault his tackling just skill errors like the rest of our team. And I reckon we keep young in the short term for his hair - looks glorious in motion - just usually running the wrong way hahahaha

I don't really rate tackling in isolation , if players can mark and kick the ball , you can tackle less . Tackle rate will go up if you keep kicking behind in your forward half .

Yeah I don’t mean to keep making excuses for us but we’re the 2nd youngest side in the comp, with a first year coach, with 11 weeks without a home game and in NRL country

Just a bit of perspective the Melbourne papers ignore. Yes we got a lot of draft picks, yes we blew that in the first few years, but get over it - we’re in a rebuild (or just build) so get off our backs.

Full rebuilds don’t seem to work. How long have Carlton, St Kilda and Brisbane been building for?

Still in the same spot for them. Geelong, Sydney and Hawthorn have it in the sweet spot. Geelong have missed the finals once in 11 years or something ridiculous like that. Swans and Hawks very similar. With free agency the full rebuild is dead,
because with free agency once a team is put together enough ready to head into the higher parts of the ladder they lose all their important parts to free agency/demanding a trade.

You may get lucky like for a year like a Bulldogs, or have vast amounts of wealth and political pull like Richmond to dig out. But the teams down the bottom are the same ones year after year. We are doomed to repeat this cycle.

I just can’t bother with it anymore, which is sad cause watching every week us beat our heads against a brick wall is disheartening.
