I enjoyed them. RIP.R.I.P. chats with rats
I played against his old man in schoolboy footy in Hobart 1980/81SACKED podcast 2024: David Noble recounts son John’s devastation at missing out on Collingwood’s 2023 premiership
“I’m a realist. I am probably as firm on him as any mentor he has got,” Noble said.
“If you don’t deserve to be in (the Collingwood side) I am happy to tell you. But he rang and I don’t reckon he could talk for about 30 seconds. That’s how long it took to talk. I thought he had mis-dialled me.
“He was absolutely devastated. Completely and utterly devastated. So as a parent, it’s not a death or anything unfortunate, but our family is extremely proud of how he’s held himself and what he’s done.
“(The 2023) Grand Final was a crappy, crappy day, that one. For me it was a really sad day.
“In the end I was going for Brisbane, Unfortunately I felt he got the raw end of the stick through it all.
“And it was a really sad day for a guy that had done absolutely everything within his power, from a mid season pick to play a certain number of games in a row, and just he’s totally committed, to not get that spot I thought was extremely disappointing. But unfortunately, decisions are made and you move on.
“(John) was there to support the guys, whatever needed to be done. He is a team player first and he had to go away and reflect on that and try to make himself better. So much credit to him and he’s played some ripping footy this year.”
Did you trash talk him?I played against his old man in schoolboy footy in Hobart 1980/81
I did say to him at the the time "ever heard of North Melbourne" he looked at me strangelyDid you trash talk him?
Something like “In the future you’re going to be a shit coach” maybe not a great burn at the time but I bet it hurts now
Gold Coast has asked for four more big-drawing games against quality opponents in the school holidays period to maximise their fixture, which also includes two games in Darwin.
The Suns were able to sell out games against Brisbane, Essendon, Richmond and Collingwood last year.
The Suns believe they are well suited to a handful of Thursday night games given their up-tempo style.
Opening round 2025 lolWhen is this up-temp style going to start?

I see the way teams like Brisbane and Collingwood constantly and ferociously move the ball and see nothing in our game style that is even remotely similar on a regular basis.Maybe a couple of quarters here and there. When is this up-temp style going to start?

On the other hand we've been so inocuous as a sporting outfit since we started that most opposition supporters have a soft spot for us like an idiot cousin so they don't mind watching us play
When we debut Rioli (and Noble). I think people are going to be shocked when they see how much of a difference it's going to make by having a very quick and skilful player rebounding out of the backline and Rioli's exceptional foot skills when entering the forward 50 will be on full display. Our forwards are going to love it.When is this up-temp style going to start?
I think the success of it will mostly depend on our results. We know the young families struggle to attend night games, regardless of what day its played, so you'd think a 7:10pm Thursday night fixture would be even less likely to be attended by them. Having said that, I think this year proved that if we're winning regularly and in the finals hunt then people will show up in masses anyway. The sell out home games against Collingwood, Essendon and Brisbane this year were all played in the middle portion of the season when we were undefeated at home and were genuinely contending for a place in the finals. If we're sitting pretty in the top 6 when a Thursday night game rolls around next year then I'm fairly sure we'll see a good crowd show up.Thursday night 7:30 is a bad idea for the locals, too late IMO
IMO, Brisbane is a stretch. They were number 1 team regarding possessing/holding the ball. Let's be honest, they had no right to win that game against GWS. If they lost, a lot of people would jump on them. It 's extremely small margin between winning and losing season.I see the way teams like Brisbane and Collingwood constantly and ferociously move the ball and see nothing in our game style that is even remotely similar on a regular basis.Maybe a couple of quarters here and there.

Meh, Cornes staying relevant in the off season, plus who’s going to spend 45 mins in line for a bus at 10:30pm on a Thursday night, it will only hurt attendance IMO“This is laughable”: Cornes responds to Suns’ reported push for a handful of prime-time games
