Supercoach - value selections

I wonder if people would mind posting their thoughts on who they believe to be selections worthy of consideration for supercoach. In particular value selections from each position.

There are some gimmees like Kosi, Nathan Brown etc

There are new recruits who are very cheap.

Before I post my thoughts, I'd like to hear other opinions and stimulate some discussion.

Armitage is a bargain.

I was also happy of the prices of -

Murphy (Dogs)
Griffen (Dogs)
Bartram (Dees)
Raines (Tiges)

But can't give away too much!

;)

Both Dream Team (DT) and Super Coach (SC) require using some strategy in order to be competitive. Whatever strategy you use it must, in essence, involve selecting players whose value will increase. The increase in value can be used directly or indirectly to better your squad.

My strategy has been to select as many players as possible into my squad who will increase in value. I do this to such a degree that I am sometimes forced to omit players whom I know will give me consistent high scores - I don't include them if they will not increase much in value and are not already amongst the very elite scorers of the competition.

I see the ultimate goal for me is to eventually fill my squad with as many as I possibly can of these elite high scorers. The way I do it is to include several of them from the start and never trade them away. The other players in my squad are there to improve in value enough so that I can afford to trade away one or two to buy another elite every second or third week.

Have a look at your squad...

How many are going to improve in value enough to allow you to buy up elites?

I think you have a squad that will score quite well. My concern is with the "undeveloped players" in your squad - basically I think you need more. Otherwise your squad will stagnate in value while your opponents squads are all growing hugely in value.

Another concern is that some of the players in your squad may not play week 1. You must have nerves of steel if you hang on to players like that. They may play week 2 or they might not play all season. Teams to be most concerned about in this regard are Essendon and Brisbane. The coaches of each have never been accused of being reliable or honest - especially when it comes to injury recovery information.

Both Lappin and Scott are enormous value... but only if they PLAY.
It may be prudent to leave them out and include them later if a higher priced player in your squad loses form or is injured. You can then use the money gained to get yourself another elite player.

Blue = Elite players

Borderline Elite = WIRRPUNDA, BURTON, FEVOLA

Offload Mark Ricciuto. He will not be playing much this season and when/if he does it will be in a very limited capacity.

I believe Selwood will play more games this year than any other of this year's draftees. He is in the upper age bracket, so should not have too many problems coping.

will kosi play round 1?

I am thinking to pick him up later in a trade around round 3 or 4 if he is fit and firing.

also, I cannot split freo's wlaker and xav clarke.

barring injury, is clarke a walk up start? Im not sure that walker is...

Xavier is a walk up certainty - best 22 player - no doubt.

Edit - Just one reservation - and that is he sustained a "corky" in the Kangaroos match and was all strapped up before being sent out to play out the match.

I think that Walker is a very likely starter for Freo too - especially given his preseason form.
