Will the politically correct AFL deregister Johnson over his latest indiscretion??? Surley if Cousins is deregistered for damaging his own health and setting a bad example then Johnson must be a nobrainer!!! Habitual offender who was driving way over the limit which not only set a bad example for young people, ENDANGERED peoples lifes .
Cmon AFL be consistent you set the standard with Cousins and you cant have different rules for different fools

Bay 13 mate....now that should be a rule!

I wonder if Geelong has considered imposing an injunction on any AFL ruling.

Opps there not that sort of club that does those sorts of things.

chuck it on bay 13, you might get a nibble.

no way! taking drugs and only taking the chance to harm yourself is a lot worse than driving over 2.5 times the speed limit and endangering everyone else's lives plus your own.

what is wrong with society, geelong are putting their heads in the sand. johnson got off easy, he should be called up for an AFL hearing.

just throwing up some ideas. seriously though, double standards.

No I believe that Ben whose trying to get off ‘E-asy’

Double standards, pigs arse.

They're just young guys. Young guys sometimes take drugs, young guys do silly things in their cars. Big effing deal.

Why are they any different to Hollywood celebrities. They're in the limelight too, role models and all that crap, but I don't see contracts being ended and people getting fired when they stuff up?

Kids should be smart enough to choose their role models. No one is gonna speed cos Johnson did or take a pill cos Cousins thinks its cool. Give them a break!

Agree 100 percent but Cousins will not be playing next year but Pratt will be president and Johnson is free to play =double standards
Maybe if journous like Sheehan and Wilson didnt not have months of holidays this team of the year it would be brought to the attention of the public more.
DOUBLE STANDARDS The Afl has created a monster precedent!!!!!

Hawk supporters shouldn't get too high and mighty about this. Who knows what the hell there players have gotten away with having these injunctions. Bloody Hypocrits.

AFL and double standards, no way:rolleyes:
Everyone knows the national road toll and safety on the roads is nothing to worry about.
If you take recreational drugs and own up to it, not continually try to deny it and sweep it under the carpet, then that is WRONG. You are bringing the game into DISREPUTE if you harm yourself, own up to it, seek treatment and get busted on a bogus charge by over-zealous, pig-headed, crime-avoiding, weak-ass WA police:mad:.
120 something k's in a 50 zone built up area 12mths after being given a last chance lifeline by your own club, what's the problem?
I know. Not enough brainy, listen to me as I know all, media people said it was wrong.
WEAK WEAK WEAK. Like everything else in this country nowadays.
Wah Wah Wah, yeah I know.

After the 2006 season Johnson was seen as dead wood at Geelong and had not lived up to expectation.

He had a night out on the piss and was done for D&D.

This resulted in being suspended by his own playing group for the first 6 rounds (i think that is correct) and not even being allowed to train with the senior or reserves group. He was simply told to go away, train by yourself and we will consider taking ytou back in 6 weeks.

The guy comes back, dominates, gets a good quota of Brownlow votes, a premiership and a Norm Smith and lives up to the hype.

He then gets done in the off season doing 78km over the speed limit in a 50km an hour zone, putting lives at risk. Put in context this is far worse than having a night out on the piss.

The same senior playing group decide that on this occasion his actions do not deserve any penalty because it was not a serious offense.

Anyone that believes this is not double standards is kidding themselves.

He is now a required player so a complete new set of rules apply.

This is how it works.

I would be pretty embarrassed if i were the Geelong football club.

No way was Johnson's offence in the same category as Cousins' ! Nowhere near it. I think the matter has been dealt with fairly so far.
You're right. This was much more dangerous to the community than Cousins'.

People wank on about drugs being illegal for a reason, there's a much better ****ing reason for 50 zones.

Have a look at your own clubs off field problems before worrying about other clubs.

thats pretty poor really, you think that one person taking drugs is worse than another endangering his and others lives. gotta get your priorities right.

thats right, Cousins would never have driven under the infuence of drugs, much like he wouldn't breach his contract with the club and the AFL numerous times.

Nah, not St Benny.

perish the thought!!!

I wonder if driving under the influence of valium is responsible. maybe it is!!!

No one at my club has been suspeneded by the leadership group for DD and then let off twelve months for doing 2.5 times the speed limit

This is not a club thing grow up its the principle of the matter massive double standards

Could not care less what club he is from he is obviously a moron with no self control and concept of doing the right thing and has still not learnt his lesson.

The leadership group has lost the respect of the general footy public and doesnt which club it is they are hypocrites pure and simple.

cousins was never caught driving under the influence and even with the booze bus incident the AFL took no action. whereas they took action when the drugs fiasco surfaced. your arguement has no merit or relevance to what im really trying to say.

im not saying cousins is better than johnson. im saying driving 2.5 times over the speed limit is worse than taking drugs.
