Nah, Essendon supporters want a star player for Lovett, like a J McVeigh or Veszpremi or even our pick 6, which ain't going to happen.

I think Hall will be going to the Bulldogs, so I doubt that trade will happen Vonn. :(

Hall for young Spida and 4th pick, no Addisons just because he's from NSW doesn't mean we should get him. We F@@ked up on Hayes and who ever didn't recruit him should be put down as he and the sook are carrying st scum.

so you're saying sydney give Hall and the dogs give us a 4th rounder and young spida.

No way would that ever happen. Dogs getting absolutly reamed.

It might have to be Hall + 2nd for everitt

and even then i dont think the bulldogs will bite (pun intended)

No we give them HALL and OUR 4TH PICK FOR JNR SPIDA and no one is reamed as you so delightfuly put it

Oh ok

but i still disagree

He was theri 1st round pick a couplke of years ago and since then has baulked up and grown a coupkle a cm's aswell

and i think that giving them a 33 yr forward and a 4th rounder (pretty much useless in this shallow draft) for a 20 yrs hbf/winger (with the prospect of being a KPP) is a huge loss for the dogs in your trade suggestion.

it would be like them giving us B Johnson and thier 4th rounder for P Vezpremi.................. would you accept that deal

I think we Swans fans tend to sell our players a bit short at times.

Hall could be worthless (trade wise) but if more than one club is interested, bear in mind that a couple of years ago we traded a 2nd round pick for Spida, knowing we'd probably just get a couple of years from him but needing someone of his position badly. And he'd barely played the previous year due to injuries.

Not too much difference with the Dogs and Hall really. Except that Hall's "injuries" are temperamental rather than physical.

Elsewhere, some Swans fans seem to think a 2nd round plus Buchanan would be a reasonable trade for Lovett. Monty's best is easily as good as Lovett's. and they are almost exactly the same age. Lovett is worth more, sure, as it has been a couple of years since Buchanan showed his best. But since Essendon have practically pushed Lovett out of the door, they are not going to get top value for him unless there is a decent list of clubs queueing up for him. We'd be getting reamed if we gave up Monty and a second round pick for him. (And I'm pretty ambivalent about even going for Lovett.)

Didn't we get Jude instead of Hayes? Hardly a **** up.

I'm one of the people who have suggested that, but if that trade eventuated I'd be frustrated that Sydney gave up so much so easily. Monty for Lovett in a straight swap would be something I'd accept, based on Lovett's ability to give us some x-factor and pace. Pick 38 for Lovett would be even better, but I don't see us getting away with that one.

It would be a massive upside for us if we got Andy Everett for Hall. That seems fair in my eyes.On Footy Classified last night they said that the deal was almost done for Lovett to go to Freo.

Fitzy would have been a superstar and Fozzie was picked up as an athlete over Hayes who didn't have the pace. St scum were elated to get Hayes as he was a priority for them.
I once asked Stevie Wright who coached Hayes, Davis and Bolton at the Rams why the Swans never picked them up, his reply was that the Swans always expected them to come home, especialy Hayes but he loved the Melbourne footy lifestyle and will never go back.
If Hayes won the Brownlow tonight no one from anywhere would complain.

I'm pretty lukewarm about Lovett - I know he brings much needed pace, but I don't know that he's the right fit. I think I like the Seaby idea better and that's not all that appealing!

Just on Buchanan, I really think he has almost no trade value after the last couple of years - maybe equivalent to a late pick, but nothing more. If we think we are packaging him with a mid-late pick to get something worthwhile (particularly if the player is younger), we are kidding ourselves. Personally I don't believe he's in our best 22 anymore and I'd rather his spot be taken by a younger player coming through.

He could have some appeal to a team that is close to a flag and play the sort of role that Schneider has for the Saints but I'd be very surprised if there was much interest at all. The fact is that you have to give up something good to get something good and the fact that so many of us are quite willing to plug Buchanan into any number of hypothetical trade scenarios tells you that most of the fans really wouldn't miss him and his perceived value isn't high, even if those at the club feel differently.
