Swans, Crows not top two: Malthouse

Might refrain booking a seat with afl.com in advance for the obvious Swans v Crows GF then :thumbsu: Seems like most other Vics rekon it would be a farce of a game and probably won't want tickets. Get the feeling I could rock up on the day and get a pretty decent view.

Hopefully big Tippett comes back for the finals and we see 2 full strength teams going at it.

Sounds a lot like supporters of Melbourne-based clubs (including Malthouse) are getting very worried, and are looking for excuses already.

Or they are instead highlighting the fact that you're a good team, but not as good as the ladder suggests because you've got the easiest draw in the league.

I would much rather play Adelaide in the finals than Collingwood, Sydney or Hawthorn. I'm sure many would agree.

I think its jaust that while the top 4 are legit, and positions wouldnt vary by more than 1 win.

That is enough to give certain teams home finals, and the travellers can consider thamselves unlucky

Chances are they will have a couple of weeks to get ready for it, and Coll, Haw travel the best of all the vic teams having won a couple such finals.

Current standings would yeild just one victorian final in the first week - lets hope theres plenty in the bank....

The Crows have yet to play Melbourne or Lions, and they have as yet played GCS only once (same as everyone else), yet they sit second (equal top). The ladder suggests that because the Crows have an undemanding run home they may finish minor premiers, but it also says that without having played those easier rounds yet the Crows are still top 2.

Carlton probably won't make the finals, so bad luck. However, having said that, I seem to recall Carlton getting smashed playing against the Crows in Melbourne earlier this year, so perhaps it isn't such bad luck that you won't be playing them again in finals.

More than balanced out by the fact that most 'away' games are a few minutes down the road and not a couple of hours in the air.
Yeah thats what I was trying to get at. Swans supporter was saying said Vic teams had an advantage by only travelling 6 or so times a year. I was saying Vic teams only play against 6 or so travelling teams a year. It evens itself out.

so when are all vics sides going to start travelling away to all interstate teams again???? As soon as things dont go the VIC's way they cry like the sky is failing down!
Non Victorian teams are shit: carry on..

Victorian teams are shit: we need a review into the state of Victorian football and x,y,z fixed..

This is the price you pay when you have a club that ensures the manipulation of the draw to havce blockbusers like Anzac day and Essednon twice, Carlton twice and the cats and the Hawks most of the time.

You get the extra publicity but the draw is going to be harder ffs. It's what Collingwood wanted, so if they finish third rather than second because of it it's Eddies fault no one else.

If North get in the finals and win the first week, then it's the crows I want us to play.

Fair enough. The point being that many Victorians seem to be really upset that the Crows are going to be playing in this finals series. If they truly thought the Crows are going to be finals easybeats, why would this upset them so?

This is what i said earlier pretty well.. The draw for these Vic teams is only harder at the moment because the majority of them are decent right now.. They didn't mind when they were playing and smashing (as examples) Carlton or Essendon twice when they were a lot worse a few years ago..

That's a pretty parochial immature response mate.

I'm not "upset" and I don't believe that applies to most other opinions.

I don't believe the Crows can match Hawthorns fire power, Collingwoods midfield class and run, or Sydney's grunt.

I think Adelaide and 5th to 8th are pretty even. I only rate you guys next because you will have a home final.

This is an honest opinion based on analysing this years teams and has nothing to do with any absurd notions of Adelaide envy.
