With Ladhams and TMc no shows this week, I'm going for a more beefed up (if you can call it) defence. Melican in (can't believe I'm typing this). Ruck McAndrew until he drops then sub for Sheldrick / Warner jnr / Wicks / HHK (don't really mind which one is picked as sub) with Mclean moving into ruck and Francis swinging forward as second tall target. Like to see Heeney spend some more time on ball just to get him involved more.
Personally i'd drop stephens.
Bring in Melican to free up Blakey to play higher and more aggresive.
A bit like Dawson used to play.
If Hickey is fit . I'd drop stretch and bring in Wicks or the Klingon .
Mclean to play second ruck.

Drop Stephens again? Great way to break his confidence.. He was okish last week. I'd probably keep McAndrew, blues will bring back DeConning.. Agree Wicks could play tight on one of their annoying small forwards but please Wicks don't give away stupid frees.

Yep - we haven’t matched up all that well against the blues in recent years. If the pill is coming out of the middle like v Freo, we will get belted.

No wonder we're struggling depth wise if that's all we've managed. Has anyone caught any of the VFL games this year? Would like to know if the ressies actually that woeful or does the record make them look worse than it actually is?

Yep, they've been very poor - bunch of skinny teenagers getting bashed by hardened older types, bitter from afl rejection.

That would make a lot of sense then. If they're not up to an elite standard AND their mentality/confidence is probably low from just getting belted all the time no wonder we can't fill any spots with quality.

I think other than the Frankston game, we haven't even looked close to winning. And to be fair to the skinny teenagers, they haven't had much support from the older listed guys or top ups, who are of varying standard.
Its a bunch of skinny flankers running around none are really developing or showing anything

Its a interesting one.
They have a lot of pressure on them.
Voss. Even moreso since Dimma resigned.
Players. Underperformed and disunity.
Swans. Most of the media has written them off.

I wouldn't be shocked if both Sheldrick and Stephens got dropped and you bring in Melican and HHK
Its a familiar script full strength opposition that has been severly underperforming coming up against a depleted Sydney outfit.
We are still seen as a big test.
