If it's solely to develop talent in NSW for the good of the code and the entire competition, why do 2 clubs have exclusive access (no other clubs can match bids) to the best talents in an entire state?
Who pays for it shagger?

Do Melbourne have any distinct advantages over NSW and QLD based teams? Now, I’ll help you by letting you know that long held advantages are still considered advantages today.
Think hard before you reply. Much harder than you did before your last effort.
I’m excited about your findings.

No.Do Melbourne have any distinct advantages over NSW and QLD based teams?
The AFL gave 2 reasons for this:If it's solely to develop talent in NSW for the good of the code and the entire competition, why do 2 clubs have exclusive access (no other clubs can match bids) to the best talents in an entire state?
Yes before the academies not one player was drafted from NSW...except for duds like....James Hird.....Jarrad McVeigh.....Shane Crawford...Lenny Hayes...
Definitely need an academy lol
Using your logic, the AFL is really pfhukcing up with their secret scheme for GWS and GC.Another top 4 finish propped up by yearly priority picks. The AFL can't afford the Swans out of the finals for more than a year at a time as they will bleed money and support so they'll continue giving them a leg up indefinitely.
Try a quick scan of the previous 103 pages. Sheesh.I'm interested to hear what advantages Melbourne have been given over Sydney.

Yes, and this has been discussed endlessly.Nope. Heeney Mills Blakey v no one.

"No-one" LOL. Are you pretending you don't know the stated purpose of the northern academies?
Bloody hell.
Pretending he/she does not know that those players were not free as well.
You are either obtuse or disingenuous if you think the entire matter is that the Swans got "given" three players and that's all folks! Not really interested in continuing this dull discussion. Bye.Big piles of garbage to not equal diamonds.
Reckon Sydney & GWS get advantage of Melbourne based players with huge profiles wanting to get out of the limelight.
We don't get that in Perth, nor does the Adelaide clubs.
Brizzy probably get an advantage here as well.
Just think if Freo had an academy, Jackson and Chad would be a tantalising combo

"If you make it there" - that's the crux, the hard part is making it. Something that the Swans get a leg up with with their academy priority picks every single year.the grand final always being played at your own deck if you make it there (barring unforeseen circumstances) is a rather significant advantage i would say
in the 2020 and 2021 grand final's neither team had a home ground advantage so im not sure what your point is there. i also explicitly put a caveat on those years in my post"If you make it there" - that's the crux, the hard part is making it. Something that the Swans get a leg up with with their academy priority picks every single year.
Home ground advantage didn't seem to matter in 2020 and 2021. Perhaps it's just the better team with the better players and coaches who prevail once it gets to the pointy end rather than where the game is played
Weird then that they slapped that trade ban on us for doing too well.Yep they are. They stuffed up their initial setup and are dealing with the legacy of that. Even so GWS competed for flags for a few years.

Given that its true I'd suggest you just thank the AFL for the leg up.
Did you thank the AFL for Paul Roos? I mean without him you would not have won the flag last year.
I love how people from Melbourne, a city which is dominated by one code, of one sport, in a way that is almost unique in the world, complain that someone else gets a "leg up". Bye.Given that its true I'd suggest you just thank the AFL for the leg up.
How many goals he kick?
