Wasn't his gripe at the western muts over dunderhead bevo being too overbearing? I could only imagine Lyons being just as bad if not worse.
Though you could be right and after the mess RtB left saints in last time, they may rein his control in somewhat this time.
Won't happen , him and Bevo want full control . But KB is the boss , but i feel he won't be around much longer

Section on our recruitment team set-up at the end of the article (below)

"This year is a year of transition for Sydney's list management department, with new head of football Leon Cameron part of a collaborative setup that will also include backline coach Mark McVeigh closer to the AFL Draft."

Interesting. That fits with Spike's intel informing the decision to draft Snell. But how does it fit with his being a coach?
A few years ago Laidler was also very close to the list management team, possibly due to being the NEAFL coach.
I think they try to utilise people's skills and also give them development experiences which would tie in with what appears to be the management style rather than stick them in a box.

Necessity is the mother of invention. If those outside of NSW are reluctant to come then provide opportunities for those who want it.

This is the base NSW football will grow from.

Great interview with Kinnear Beatson by the True Bloods podcast. The succession plan is very much underway.

Talks about the importance of analytics and how the landscape of recruiting has changed over the years. Kinnear very much about the person and talks about why he picked Chad.

I could listen to Kinnear for hours, but I wish the guy with the deep voice would talk about 80% less.

One of the best interviews ever

Fascinating comments on Serong - sounds like his biggest regret

Cagey about Dyl being in and out of the team so much “same reasons he’s now in and out at North”

Will never fathom why North didn’t go for McDonald

Melican and his amazing private testing when no-one else wanted to know about him

Amarty’s Nigerian heritage noted for explosive power rather than endurance

No one wanted Rampe for years but once rookied he never gave us a reason not to pick him

And an insiders view on recruiting Franklin - only seven people knew right up to when we ll knew - and the fallout that followed

Critiques the Dawson situation

Its over an hour and all of it compulsive listening

Doxing ? never heard that at the lake oval or Souths market
It means people on here use a anonymous name. Even if I knew who the pocasters names were on here I would not reveal their BF names, that is NOT on and its a very bad thing to ask for.

Haven’t had a chance to listen, what did the great man have to say scout Dawson (to this day one of his best smokies ever).

Especially the fact that he (parphrasing a little) talked himself out of drafting Serong for reasons that made no logical sense.

Would love to know what he was thinking at the time. Did he think he was viewing Serong too favourably becuause he had been around the club a lot?

I think what was unsaid was that he talked himself into Dyl Stephens as well which he clearly regrets. He mentioned Dyl in the chat and that he's now also struggling to get a game at North but then kinda stopped himself from expanding on it. I reckon he talked himself into Dyl and thereby talked himself out of Serong which hurts.

If that's the case, maybe it was a factor of Dyl nominally having some pace and ability to break away from congestion which at the time our midfield sorely needed. Turns out we got that with Warner unexpectedly but maybe that was what Serong was getting dinged for, not having that type of explosive pace.

It's good to think that Kinnear is so honest with himself. It would be easy to say "oh well the kid just didn't work out" but to take a lump of the responsibility on yourself is a big thing.

I do remember in 2019, no doubt we were looking for pace with the midfield on their last legs (Hanners, Jack) and we weren't the best in transition both ways. JPK and Parker were still our inside mids and now we were looking for outside mids to help them and get the ball moving.

Warner is now possibly the best in the league at breaking away from congestion with that explosive first step.
