Okay finally took the plunge for a 3 game Red Zone Membership. Sounds like I will miss out on Red Zone tickets for this round unless something pops up in the email for the next 2 days... trying to understand the red zone barcode redemption process on Ticketek.

I'm surprised that more teams don't take the marketing opportunities presented for clash jumpers.
GWS has a small supporter base but Puma and the club still thought it worthwhile to release a clash guernsey and it it seems it has been well received by the supporters.

That's why I could never understand a supposedly astute business man in McGuire not seeking alternative clash jumpers for Collingwood.
Instead of taking the opportunity to bolster their bottom line it was all about taking the low road and the Magpies don't change their jumper for anyone (well unless it's white stripes on a black background instead of black stripes on a white background or whatever).

Tradition is fine, still retain your home guernsey, but there is no reason a clash jumper couldn't incorporate, in the case of Collingwood, a black/white element.
More dollars from kit suppliers, more dollars from fans, but El Presidente more interested in thumbs up from the toothless masses who believed his every word.

Eddie is the Scott Morrison of the AFL world. No particular skills other than a pronounced narcissistic/even sociopathic streak that enabled him to climb the ladder. You see it in many institutions - managers/execs with no discernible talent except in doing that.
You only have to see Eddie on tv to realise he's an actual fool.

Sydney is on the front foot. Not the back foot. We are going forward. Not back. Longmire is not going to plug gaps. He is going to give his players the confidence to go out and play the new Swans way.
If this comment appeared anytime in the last 7 years, it would have been called un-swanslike

carry on ...

hahahahaha ... this comment is a little burst of sunshine this morning ... one of the joys of football was cameras panning to ed's fat head in the closing moments of close collingwood losses ... the 2018 grand final, for example ... i was never that fussed by collingwood (or mcguire) until i lived in melbourne for 15 years ...
i blame mcguire for sam newman having any profile at all ...

We've just got Kennetts sour face now to hold on to for the next season(s) of hawks losses. After he exits it's a wasteland

I'd rather keep mills in the mids. If we win the clearances and drive into our 50 we win, regardless of the giants forward set up. With mills in the mids we have a mid who is starting to dominate. Why push him back to a position he hasn't played since last year, then bring rowbottom in to the mids when he hasn't played in 3 weeks. It seems overly defensive. Wouldn't we at least start with the position that we are going to smash GWS from the outset.
Agreed, keep Mills in the middle, but if our defence is constantly under siege, some tweaks will be required on the fly, in which case throwing mills or Reid into the backline could be an option. Let’s hope they don’t need to go there at all.

Reid ventures there every game.

Is Stephens playing in the ECFL?
He played in the pre-season game last week and was named as one of the better players. They seem to be moving him about so he can work on different aspects of both his inside and outside game.

From Jeremy Laidler:

Dylan Stephens:

We have been throwing Dylan around a bit, just trying to get him around the ball and use his attributes around the ball with his legs and drive out of the contest and then when he does go out on the wing, just holding his shape and running those patterns.

That's the challenge with going inside and out, and having that balance when he can impact, when he can't impact. I thought as the games have been going on, the second, third and fourth quarters his game continues to grow.

He's put a couple of good performances together and he will be ready if the time comes and he's putting pressure on the guys above him which is really pleasing.

That's the challenge when you have the AFL team going so well, there aren't many spots available but they are doing what they can control and putting their name up in the VFL and it makes the guys at the AFL level play at that high standard.

I guess I plan to keep a close eye on the reserves this Saturday well... if we are allowed to watch the game
It is back as a freebie (I have an account but lapsed subscription)

All this talk about GWS being up for this game. What about this - WE will be up for this game.

The players all know each other and will be keen for the choccies. Best list will get them.

Swans will go in and win overall.
Their only win is against a Pies team who seem to be in a major crisis and suddenly GWS are back in form.

I wouldn't take them lightly because any team can win any game given the right circumstances, but they lost to Freo and St Kilda who are middle of the pack and to a Melbourne team who seems legit and is probably their only justifiable loss.

If we put the screws on the Giants I think they'll struggle.

I'm more concerned by our injuries and struggle to execute our game plan at the SCG.

Can we move the game back to ANZ?

Agreed.

I also think we will be better this week after the longer break as guys like Wicks, McDonald and to a lesser extent Campbell had slightly off games last week, and I suspect it was because they are young and we only had a 5 day break. The 9 day break will help a lot.

I'm more worried about our goal kicking. We're still the best side for marks inside 50 but geez we burnt some chances against the Bombers. 17 behinds is wasteful.

We'll see if we can get our running game back this weekend. I don't know if it was Essendon marking up tight, the slippery conditions or what but I was disappointed that we fell back to kicking to a 50/50 on the wing. It will have been a 9 day break so should pull up a bit fresher and hopefully we go back to using the corridor.

Yep, our two least convincing wins (Adelaide and Essendon) were at the SCG. We looked far better at the Gabba and MCG.

Gabba - 156m - 138m
SCG - 155m - 136m

I personally think it was more that Adelaide and Essendon took it up to us (plus inaccuracy vs Bombers), for longer, than Brisbane at least. Hard to say that Richmond don't play the G well either to negate any advantage we think we had.
