Heeney is such a huge loss. I think it can be easy to overlook that as great as our key forwards have been going, relatively speaking, and as exciting as our smalls have been, it's actually Heeney who is leading our goal-kicking this year. He is generally good for 2 or 3 goals every game and that's a big hole to fill.

I'm assuming that between Dawson, Braeden and Lloyd, the decision is based on who is closest when the ball goes through to ensure the kick in can be taken quickly. If they are all close, Dawson would be the preferred.

Yes and potentially what the play is.

If they are set-up to go long then Dawson and Campbell, if it’s short it will be Lloyd who carry’s the ball and goes short and then again for the handball receive.

You don’t run the same set-up every time.

Melican potentially on Greene... I dunno about this. One thing to do it in the reserves, another thing to face a forward in AA form.

What!!! Greene would kick a Baker's Dozen on Greene. Even Horse would not do that. If he even thought about I am confident Cox, McVeigh and Pyke would jump on him

Harry to Toby,
Tommy Mac to Riccardi (Too slow for Himmelberg)
Melican not melican’t to Himmelberg
Win 2 out of 3 and we will be ok.

Ramps personal form hasn’t been spectacular - but we will miss his organisational skills and everything he does off ball.

Rampe has played on the second tall each week. Dawson been playing on the third tall. No need to mess with structure, Melican comes in and plays on the second tall. More than capable.

The Heeney role, there is two options - Blakey or Hayward. If you go Hayward, it’s a straight swap, and Rowbottom comes in, probably for Blakey to miss as a midfielder. Or, you move Blakey into that role, and Rowbottom slots back into the midfield. Again, either are more than capable options.

it is a good rest of depth, but I think we have it in most positions (Eg: McLean next KPF, Ling next Small Def, Stephens next mid, etc)

IMO Horse won't drop Blakey or anyone for that matter. An unforced change on top of two forced changes is highly unlikely for a team travelling well.

Melican for Rampe is a given.

If Rowbottom is deemed fit, it will be an interesting scenario where Horse may have to choose between replacing Heeney with the better player (Rowbottom) or the more like-for-like/structurally appropriate (Hayward.)

Rowbottom certainly knows where the goals are himself if played up forward, but not the lead up mark type Hayward is. I'd normally say he can share it with Parker, but I'd say Parker has a FT job stopping Ward from wracking up 37 disposals. It's a shame Cameron chose last week to finally figure out Ward isn't a winger.
I think it's Rowbottom if fit. We'll need the midfielders rotating to go against them - Buddy, Reid, and McD is enough marking power IMO.

I'm hoping for good conditions for this one.
GWS ball movement the last couple of years has been very slow and predictable. Our outside run and slick ball movement can be the advantage here and wet conditions will suit them better. For years we would get burnt by GWS outside run but now the roles have been reversed.

I have a feeling rowbum comes in, mills gets sent into the backline. And braeden gets given a spell for melican who comes in to sure us up defensively, that would still give mills the chance to pinch hit in the mid.

The other alternative is maybe Reid gets sent to defence and McLean comes in.

Heeney for Hayward is the easy one.
