Sydney v Essendon rivalry

Should these two teams play in the rivalry round instead of Sydney playing the Brisbane Lions? Since 1996, both teams haven't had many blow-out games and have produced some classic games over the years with plenty of controversy. So what do you think? Sydney v Essendon, during rivalry round?

Sydney and Essendon have never really had a rivalry. The only addition to the Sydney rivalry list in recent years is West Coast and that was made by 5 or 6 really, really close games.

I did, and it's true. It's the finals that's made the Sydney and WC rivalry. Although I doubt it'll last. Remember when Collingwood and Brisbane was meant to be the next big thing?

While there is a bit of rivalry there, I would have imagined Sydney vs West Coast would be the best rivalry. The recent record is unbelievable.

The crowd is smaller because of the redevelopments that are being done at the ground.

They have, but if not for the Grand Finals the rivalry would be non-existant.
