Sydney's record in grand finals needs scrutinising

Longmire’s 1-4 record is flattering.
They were lucky to win the 2012 grand final. Check out the stats from that game.

We have put the Buddy curse on them.
2014 - Hawks smash swans.
2016 - Clarko assistant Bevo.
2022 - Isaac Smith norm smith.
2024 - Clarko assistant Fages.

They were at least prepared to tackle in 2012. Can't stand Kennet but he was actually right in what he said after that game. You don't win a GF unless you're prepared to tackle and chase like a maniac. Swans had 33 in the first 3 quarters today...

So yeah they shit the bed again.

They should be rightfully called out on an inability to close the deal.

Warning signs were there all year.

Yep. The reason why the Swans struggled in first quarters were because of pressure. We could not play the way we wanted to play when the pressure was high, but in normal home and away season games the pressure usually drops off a bit after a quarter or so and it allowed us to take control over the game.

The problem with finals is that the pressure does not drop off like it does for a home and away season game.

Sydney's Grand Final record under coach Longmire is 1 win and 4 losses.

That is a self destructive, horrendous and horrific record. Sydney fans should be embarrassed by that stat.

It just shows that Home & Away footy means absolutely nothing...all it does is set a team up for a Premiership win.

It's Finals Footy that wins a team a Premiership.

Sydney keep turning to water, they keep crumbling like a cheesecake biscuit base. Pathetic really.
Time for Big Cox to take over?

Home & Away footy only means a certain amount. Home & Away footy sets a team up for a Premiership but Finals footy is what wins teams a Premiership. It's a small window...only 1 month...but that is when it truly matters. Too much emphasis goes into Home & Away footy. Need to get the job done in Finals too. Sydney now have a 1-4 Grand Final record under Longmire as coach.

All Australians, Coleman Medals, Brownlow medals mean nothing when it TRULY matters most.

Its not just 1-4. It's the manor 3 of the 4 have happened. Not looking like it or giving a help all day. RUNVS has provided some insight. They just are not playing in a way that will hold up to GF level pressure.

It was honestly the Eagles game in Gather Round where it clicked for me. Couldn’t believe how quickly the Swans went to water with simply ‘big effort’ pressure (no real skill) from a very ordinary Eagles line up.

Sydney brushed them aside eventually but it was there and kept reoccurring throughout the season.

Yep, about that time I was thinking of it too.

It also made a lot of sense as to why Sydney was playing so badly in the first quarters, it wasn't bad luck or anything. It was that our game style was water under pressure, and the pressure is usually highest early in a game.

What is it with Collingwood fans being dicks today? Had around 3 or 4 Collingwood fans who were trolling on the Swans board during the game.
You're always going on about Vicbias, stick that one up your clacker.

How is Longmires words eating into the players minds now?

Sometimes it's just better to keep your big mouth closed, like Ginni and Longmire just found out.

Swandivers forever.
