Just picked one up for my partner today. Steal at 98 dollars. It ain't an IPad but it's great for browsing and email.

No queues here in Kal.

I'd love to grab one for $98. I'm sure I could find enough uses for it to justify the massive outlay! Might be a bit hard to find one in Australia tomorrow. I have family in the US so if I bite the bullet, I might order one over there (if there's any left).

I'm curious to give webOS a look, given that I was a Palm fanboy for many years.

I know Best Buy have sold out, and it looks like they were the major player for the unit in North America. The missus tells me Amazon still have it but for $250, lol

I think the interface is quite slick. Seems like the hardware might be a little under specced. There are certainly a few things i would love to have on the Ipad like the ability to shut an app by flicking it off the screen.

While the TouchPad sold like hotcakes at a ridiculous bargain basement price, it does makes me think that the 16GB iPad 2 is slightly over-priced at AU $579 / US $499. I think AU/US $399 would be a good price point.

I'd be thrilled if they cut their pricing, but based on what?

The Touchpad was comparable pricewise initially, but it was a piece of shit and didn't sell.

Why would Apple drop their pricing, when competitors at similar price points are rubbish?

I suspect that next year Apple will bring out two version of the IPad; a standard version and a HD/Pro version.

Saw this at a tram stop 15 minutes ago.

There's nothing like it! Experience it now! :)

The HP tablet hardware sounds like a piece of shit

HP tested webOS on an iPad. It ran over twice as fast as the TouchPad.

HP’s WebOS team almost certainly had an idea that the company’s new tablet, the TouchPad, had very little chance of challenging Apple’s dominance in the tablet market, as the company’s webOS operating system was running “over twice as fast” on its rival’s iPad 2 tablet

Has anyone got a Motorola Xoom? It seems to be on the pricey side only $17 cheaper than the equivalent iPad 2 (which already has a following and fanbase), based on the 32GB wi-fi models of each.

there are cheaper options that have very similar specs than the xoom or ipad2
played around with the toshiba thrive today, quite a nice tablet, especially the rubberised back which makes if feel safe in hands. a bit bulkier in terms of physical dimensions but it didnt feel as heavy as the iconia tab

The only difference is that the Thrive's internal memory is only 16GB. It doesn't worry me as I doubt I'll need 32 GB anyway. It looks like quite a good device.

thrive comes with an full sized SD card slot for up to 32gb expansion when/if you need it. it might even be and SDXC slot for even more expansion.

Why wouldn't you go the IPad?

Yeah. I probably won't buy until November/December so if Motorola drops the price on the Xoom I will be tempted to buy that given that I'm just after something that loads quickly, pretty reliable and small. I'll want the Android Marketplace to have more apps by then as well.

I'll most likely opt for the iPad though.
