Pretty sure Col is also our best tackler and highest I50 player this year.

To MM, maybe you are right, but in my mind our top 8 mids are, in order:

-Beamer
-Sylvia
-Trengove
-Scully
-McKenzie
-Jones/Gys/Davey (when fit and firing)

I really think Sylvia should be our "premium" mid, whilst Beamer is our work-horse and the rest play secondary/tertiary etc roles.

That's right and he isn't. That's why he is so disappointing.

Sylvia being a front runner and all would probably be leading the I50. He's not leading the tackles, he's second and considering most of the time we are a poor tackling team and Scully and McKenzie have been out of the team for a long period of time isn't saying much.

Magik better be right and he is injured cos there is no way he has stood up this year. I think an excuse is needed for him not to be trade bait.

Moloney, McKenzie, Trengove and Scully and even Jones have all been better than Sylvia this year.

If you made a thread saying - 'Sylvia didnt play very well tonight, and I think he could improve on where he's at in general', then I would take your opinion seriously.

I do agree that he's not as inside as people think - just because he's big doesnt mean he does the stuff Moloney and McKenzie do. But he is certainly doing his job well - and sill improving in my opinion.

I think I have stated earlier in the year that he is the new Johnstone and I don't think you can get him to reach his potential. Everyone thought Johnstone would but never did and I think Sylvia will be the same.

At the start of the year I thought if we were going to be a good team Sylvia would have to be the key to making that happen, we are where we are because of Sylvia's ordinary form. He would have to get back into the form of last year fairly quickly before I trust him again.

What was there to say over the last 2 weeks? We beat a weak Dockers side that can't win away from home and an overrated Richmond who are so bad Miller could get a game for them.

The last 2 weeks were nothing we had to win all 3 and in the end we failed dismally. The commentators said the Bulldogs have beaten nobody. Who the hell have we beaten?

Freo are crap and so are we. There coach should be given the ass too, your talking about a team that has been just as disappointing as us. Where is the leeway?

We have had Sylvia for 8 years and he's only produced 1 good season (half a season really) nowhere near good enough.

Sylvia is the least of our problems. Has been one of our better players this year and i would think he would be in the top 4 of our B&F at this stage of the season.

On last night, whenever teams get a run on against us we dont seem to be able to lock down and weather the storm so to speak, we have lots of good attacking players off half back but when its comming the other way they get exposed.

There are 3-4 guys in that team that arnt good enough imo. Morton is the obvouis one, he just hasnt come on at all. He doesnt really have a set position and he has no strentgh over the ball at all. I think he will be a victim of when recruits where strung up on taking athletic blokes over natural footballers.
Bennell doesnt do enough, is flashy for 2-3 piecies of play but other than that shows nothing. Doesnt tackle hard enough or put his head over the ball when needed.
Strauss doesnt think quick enough, he seams to have all the atributes (good kick, quick enough) but just doesnt seem to think when he has the ball. I know its early on for him and i hope he takes the next step.

In saying that we have blokes like Grimes, Davey & Tapscott to come back in and fill the void, but like every other club we are always going to have injuries so its not really an excuse anymore.

btw Ethihad stadium is a hole.

Poor game from Col tonight, nobody could argue that, but it's his first genuinely bad game of the year. 2011 has been Colin's most consistent year to date.

Couldn't have summed it up better. Nobody can deny he had a very poor game last night but he has been extremely consistent for the year. He can't have a great game every week, no-one can.

As a side note your Sylvia bashing is getting boring. You obviously hate him as a player and jump at any opportunity to get stuck in to him. It's based on nothing else.

No, Sylvia has not lived up to all of the potential that comes with a #3 pick but he has turned into a reasonably consistent player who, on his day, is very damaging.

There can be a middle ground. Just because he hasn't lived up to all of the hype, doesn't mean he isn't still very valuable.
