Funny that YouTube seems to have an exemption.

Not sure why my algorithm did this, but just befor presidential election it was filled with absolute crap, all gone when the election was over.

Classic case of pick the part of a post you find the weakest and solely disagree with that and then pretend you have covered off on all the points.
No I haven't covered any points but that one.

Australians using search engines while logged in to accounts from the likes of Google and Microsoft will have their age checked by the end of 2025, under a new online safety code co-developed by technology companies and registered by the eSafety Commissioner.

Search engines operating in Australia will need to implement age assurance technologies for logged-in users in "no later than six months”, under new rules published on Monday.

While only logged-in users will be required to have their age checked, many Australians typically surf the web while logged into accounts from Google, which dominates Australia’s search market and also runs Gmail and YouTube; and Microsoft, which runs the Bing search engine and email platform Outlook.

Was trying to vote farm concerned parents worth this slippery slope?

What could possibly go wrong when 22 million Aussies having to input their birthdays online when they want to search the internet.

Yep. If this was America, everybody would be saying "Yep this is right out of the Project 2025 playbook."
I'm not suggesting it's the greatest policy but we've spent a decade denouncing the effects of social media on kids, a government actually tries to do something and every screams "not that"! What would you do?

All this could potentially do is stop people from being able post material to youtube. It doesn't stop the consumption of material posted to youtube or posting material to other social media platforms.

And to do this, we'll expose every Australian to further identity fraud because all of the age identifying data (both documentation and biometric) will of course be saved.

Search engine age requirement suggests an obvious ulterior motive and scope creep. I'm not particularly concerned about what Labor would do with the information, but I think it's a genie out of the box moment. What happens if we hypothetically do get a Trumpian movement and a far right extremist government gets access to data linking all online activity to real identities?

So does one just have to log out to browse everything they want?
At this stage yes, but last year it was just social media. This year it's being logged into search engines. In five years mygov digital ID required to access the internet?

If anything the ease at which it is circumvented is cause for greater concern. If the justification for having to submit biometrics to browse google while logged in is protecting children, it's a foregone conclusion that un-logged in access will have to be eventually restricted to protect our kids.

They've wrapped kids in cotton wool for physical play, guess it's bound to happen online too.

Fax bro!

Except...
Well Project 2025 was an actual plan put out ahead of the new Trump administration with explanations on how it would be implemented and the outcomes it desired.
It was created by incredibly wealthy groups and lobbyists.

Then during the second term of Trump, they've been employed into powerful Government positions, and the plan has literally been implemented.

So yeah, you've made a great point for anyone who has no ****ing idea about anything, and can't retain information for more than an hour.

Way to completely miss the point brah!

This policy is so stupid that it comes across as one concocted by the Heritage Foundation - like banning pornography,

Who is being attacked, and how are they being attacked?

Do you support or oppose speed limits in school areas?
We are because parents have stopped being parents and started being friends and enablers for the kids. We are forced to be fill the void, because parental fitness is so very weak.
