Talls???

The more talls you recruit in cumulative drafts the better chance you have of one succeeding, look at WCE, Geelong, Hawthorn You'd think they really have no pressing need for more talls but.. what happens next stuns onlookers as the likes of McInnes, Hamling, Kersten Gunston are added to their list in the 2011 offseason. Similarly, the standalone 2 tall project rookie talls on the rookie list for 3 years and a PSD great white hope doesn't provide the same level of optimism when not supported by further quality competition for a senior berth.

Geelong - they actually have a need to tall fwds. The rest of the team is pretty solid;)

Only until our young batch of midfield guns comes through

I reckon Nat would make a better CHF than mid in the long term and when we have guys like Mora, Pitt, Mundy, Michie,Sheridan, Barlow and co tearing it up through the middle Fyfe and Crozier up forward would make helluva team.

RE Clarke he is only 22 and is on the way to being a very good player - unless you tuned out for the 2nd half of the 2011 season.

Agree with this I actually think that we will be wasting Fyfe's talents if we play him purely as a mid. You could write a long list of guys that can pick up 25-30 possies a game theres only a select few who average 20-25 possies and can kick 40+ goals. Hird, Goodes, S Johnson are the ones that come to mind and that is a very special list. If Fyfe can become one of those types of players and I think he can then we will be better off than him racking up cheap possies of the HBF.

Sounds like we are placing our faith in (a) trading for a gun KPF or (b) next years draft. Would be great to have a few early picks in next years draft.

Maybe we lost our opportunity to get something of value for Griffin this year. If he rots away in the WAFL next year we may regret not shifting him this year (which may have allowed us to keep the Palmer pick). Surely as Clark develops, Griffin will be further and further marginalised.

We may have a few chances to grab a good gun KPP in next years draft anyway so the more picks or trading potential we have the better.

One kid who hasn´t been mentioned by anyone here but who could be on the radar appears to be young Jesse Hogan who is another who may be in the GWS window for 17yo´s next year.

Jesse is 191cm at just 16 years of age and was one of Claremont´s best players in the latter half of the year when playing. He played CHF, through midfield, FB and ruck.

But the feature of the match was the superb performance by the youngest player on the field, Claremont’s 16-year-old Jesse Hogan. From a write up from the prelim final-

Hogan, destined for big things in football, shone at centre-half-forward, in a forward pocket and in the ruck.

His was the best performance I have witnessed by a Claremont 16-year-old in the past ten years and one of the best displays by a powerful big man in colts ranks for the Tigers in the past 25 years.

In this period other big men in the colts at Claremont to have shown great promise in their formative years include Peter Mann, David Muir, Ryan Turnbull, Michael Gardiner, Alistair Nicholson, Myles Quinn, Andrew Ruck, Eric Mackenzie and Jeremy McGovern.

Hogan had a match-high tally of 11 marks, eight of them contested, and he had 13 kicks. The one criticism of his game is that, at times, his disposal by foot is below par.

If the kid keeps growing to 195cm plus he could be the Jon Patton of next year (in the mini draft). That said, he could also be one of those monsters (he is 95kg), who dominates because of his size at junior level. Given that he can play midfield as well shows his versatility so maybe he has more tools than his size.
