We are sitting equal bottom and we come up against Melbourne, NMFC and WCE still who are lingering in similar positions as us. We could no matter how unethical it is, tank in all these games and finish 3 wins 19 losses.

Do we tank for Scully the Richmond boy?

Is it possible for us to get picks 1 and 3?
If not then it probably won't make much difference whether we finish 16th or 13th
No. As we won more than 4 games last year, we will only qualify for a priority pick at the end of the 1st round, not before it.
There a million threads discussing this topic anyway.

we could still win 2 more games and get pick 4 which could be a trengove or butcher. from what ive heard there aint a lot between scully and trengove so either one would be a good pick up. personally i want butcher out of the 3 hes the one we need the most a big power forward with some presence that we can just clunk in the square for the next deacade.

the other issue is though if we win more than 4 we loose that pp pick between the 1st and 2nd round so probably pick #18 or #19. this is vital and i feel we really need this so i think we can only win 1 more.

in a perfect world we win 1 more, finish 14th 15th or 16th, secure pick #1,#2,#3 or 4 get butcher, get pp pick #18 pick up a quality mid.

Scully is all the rage now, but will Trengove or a Morabito or a Butcher be better in the long run?
That is the problem, you can tank and get a spoon and still not get the best player. And you are forever tainted with a losers mentality.
At the moment we are a chance to pick up one of these players without having to tank.

I have a theroy and it should not be ignored. Play our hearts out like a grand final against sides who are in the top 8 or that are close to contention, and play easy and rest against bottom 4 teams in direct competition for elite draft picks. Theres no point beating teams that are shithouse thinking about next year.

While I would rather win as many games as possible, our situation is absolutely unique this year, terribly unique. We are offloading 8-12 players in a slightly compramised draft. The extra priority picks we will obtain are crucial to future success. I just think that this club is too stupid to realise this. We cant let this opportunity slip us by, because I know our team is very capable of winning the useless extra matches.

its very doubtful if they can win in the first place. seems nothing has really changed since wallace left.

Yes and No.

Wallace was putting in the players that gave us the best chance of winning on any set day. Debatable I know, with favourites McMahon, Simmonds and Bowden getting gigs, but it's a fact. He was playing for his future, not Richmonds.

We are now looking to the future, playing the kids down the spine and letting them run at the ball and make mistakes.

Sure injuries to Simmonds, Bowden and Richardson have helped expediate this process, but there's no doubt that we are seeing who can play first, then giving Jade the job with the cattle that the match commitee give him.

We are good enough to probably win another couple of games so Scully's a moot point anyway.

Big difference between tanking
and preparing a list

Tanking - Making sure you lose a game to get draft picks, Sets a losing culture makes u scum . see Carlton Vs Essendon (took fev off and scotland off gave up a lead and still have a pathetic list and losing culture)

Preparing a list - play everyone u can see what every player has got play kids who are gonna be there , if that means u lose games so be it

We should not tank AT ALL

We should however start looking at all options on our list and if we lose games and get scully for it than so be it

You cannot be serious?

One extra pick at 17 or 18 or 19 versus a losers mentality. Now let me see which will determine future success?

Look at Adelaide and their draft choices. They haven't needed priority picks and the like. They just have a winners mentality and demand players that go to their club, to think the same way. If they don't, they are out!

That is how success is achieved. Don't go down the Carltank way. It's the DARK SIDE. Even if some success is gained, no one will respect us.

no. we are headed for a pick in the top 4 anyway. makes little difference as always the first 5 or so picks any one of them could end up the best.

I'd rather pick 2/3 and no spoon than pick 1 and a spoon.

If we get pick 2,3 or 4 we would still be guarenteed one of Scully, Butcher, Trengrove or Stevens.
