Dolliver pulling the pin makes a huge difference to Kettering's chance.... Fish is a very good batsman when he puts his mind ot it, has one of the best eyes in the comp. Whats the reason for his move back to Margate? Look out for Marcus Stephens to step up and deliver with the willow this year, very good batsman....
I haven't heard much about Gordy, just heard a few whispers that he might not be playing for B Bay, but nothing for certain.

Fish does have a great eye, his move to Margate is due to travel issues i believe and he has moved/is moving house.
Macca one of the best number 11s going around at the minute... has put in some hard work over the off season and will deliver in 06-07.

Kettering should give it a shake this year, they have some very good players in their line-up. The loss of Welsh will hurt though, he is a very miserly bowler, who bowls a very good line and length, but is very unlucky in that he doesn't get a lot of wickets. The addition of Josh 'Tin Head' Tierney and Dale 'Wild Man' Wild could inject some aggression and excitement into the club. Add to this the improvement of Mark Rushton (I heard Mitchell has got him on an incentives program) and it is an exciting time for the crickets.

On a side note, it will be very interesting to see who lines up for Snug this year. It has been rumoured that the Webb brothers, Randall and Nathan, will be lining up for them in the coming season. If this rumour is true, they could be a real threat.

Good to see that over the winter we haven't lost the ability to turn good situations into bad ones. When do the warm up games in Qld start?

A sign of things to come this year....

How in all honesty can a side be 7/150 and get to 383!!

I think Andrew Dykes would be tearing apart the walls in those rooms, I know I would be!

Get ready for another loss Tiger's Fans....TERRIFIC!!

If that isn't hurting them, I don't know what will, that's gotta hurt them somehow, surely!

It is essentially only a practice match. Most of the blokes playing 2nd XI just want to play well to push for selection in the state side. I am sure that Dawson (althoguh he did get a blob in the second innings) and Polkinghorne aren't hurting much at all...

You still want to be performing as if it is a actual season match though. Hit the ground running early, and set the example, just my thoughts anyway :)

I agree, but at this stage I think the lads would just be keen to get a few runs/wickets on the board and put there name up for state selection. They'll be right, there are still a few out of the first XI (Wright and Griffith to name two) and once they come back into the first side, the second XI will be strengthened. If we have all our bowlers fit and firing, it is going to be tough to get a gig in the 1's. We have Griffith as no 1, then Wright, Geeves, Hilfenhaus, Drew, Duval, Downton.... There is 7 quicks, we can only play 4 (maybe 5 if Wright is played as an all-rounder. My Tassie side for this season (Pura Cup):

Paine
Di Venuto
Bevan
Birt
Bailey
Marsh
Clingeleffer
Wright
Geeves
Hilfenhaus
Griffith

Out: Dawson, Downton, Duval, Drew, Dighton, Doherty.... Butterworth, McNees, Polkinghorne, Kremerskothen. There are some handy players missing out.

Am I just getting too passionate too early?? That does happen most of the time.:)

I think it is exciting times for the tigers at the moment. If they can keep their players on the park, they have to be a real chance to win the Pura Cup this year.

ACT v Tas XI 1 Day game (Monday 2nd October)

Tas - 267 (Wade 118(118), Lockyear 65(80), Granger 26(27) ) lost to ACT 3/269 (Duval 0/49 from 8.1, Downton 2/52(10), Polkinghorne 1/48(10)...

ACT were 3/51...oh well lol. Go Wade!

Doesn't seem we're winning much pre-season (not that it matters...)

Cricketers of the future do battle

05.10.2006

SOME of Australia’s best cricketing talent was on display at Buderim yesterday – and not all of it was restricted to the field.
While South Australia and Tasmania’s finest – including young guns like Shane Tait, Daniel Cullen and Dan Marsh and former Test stars Michael Bevan and Greg Blewett – went at it in the first of two Twenty-20 matches, there was almost as much action outside the ropes where the stars of tomorrow went through their paces.
As an appreciative crowd kept an eye on the main oval, Lewis Warren, 6, of Nambour, and his cousin, Ricky Volger, 4, had a Test match of their own going beyond the white picket fence.

For the record, the South Australians took out yesterday’s match, scoring 167 runs from their 20 overs and restricting the Tasmanians to 139.

Scores from Lewis and Ricky’s match were not available.
Tasmania and South Australia will line up again for another Twenty-20 match today at Buderim’s John Blanck Oval starting at 9.30am.

New roster for HCCA available:

http://www.channelcricket.southcom.com.au

B grade has been split into the top 8 from last season, and the bottom 6 plus Bruny and Crows C1 grade side from last year, making it much more even. Crows second B grade side will play their home games on Sundays. Should be a very interesting season ahead....

Should be an interesting year in the HCCA, the competition seems to be growing in stature and is showing a bit of appeal to quality players (a few ex TCA's) to join the comp.
Also Nick Doyle (Southern Tigers) is having the year off to concentrate on his footy, could be an even leaner year for the Tiges.

Paine ca keep, get rid of Clingeleffer and play Luke Butterworth, sources say he has bulked up over the winter and is bowling high 130s

duval bowls pump would rather have john snooks steaming in than him

Also heard another rumour for HCCA, that Kingborough and TAS 2nd XI star Luke Swards will be donning the baggy maroon for the Kettering Crickets to play with his brother Ben. Unconfirmed though, don't quote me.

Very doubtful considering Swooper is in the Tigers training squad....

Pain is not even half the keeper Clingleffer is. Fine use him in one dayers but you must use your best keeper in the 4 day games.

Disagree. Whilst i know he's young and Clingleffer is a gun keeper, Paine couldn't be that bad. He played Aus u/16s-18s i believe. Clingleffer's batting is crap. I'd like to see us open with Dawson and Diva, and bat Paine at 7.

Clingleffer avg last season Pura Cup = 27
Pain avg last season Pura Cup = 15

There was a difference in games played but clingleffer IS a far better keeper. Pain will be an excellent bat (better than Clingleffer) for Tasmania but in the one dayers and the Twenty20 last year his keeping wasnt that good.

Last year was Paine's first season playing first class cricket, surely you can't expect a 21/22 year old to set the world on fire... It is going to take him time to get used to playing with and against some of the best cricketers in the world. He is part of the future of the tigers, along with Birt, Bailey, Hilf, Drew, Butterworth, Geeves etc and will be a very good player in the future. If he was not being earmarked for Australian duties, he would not have been selected ot attend the Centre of Excellence. Clinga has been a solid servant for Tas in a time when we struggled for keepers, but now we have 3 (Paine, Dawson and Wade) that are younger and as good, if not better, than him.

I don't mind the idea of Dawson opening and Paine at 7, although I think Paine has always been a top order batsman and I don't think they would want to change that too much. I think Butterworth (if fit) will porbably play as the all rounder, batting at 7.

Looking forward to a fully fit combination of Wright, Griffith, Geeves and Hilfenhaus, with Drew as back up if needed.
