OK, I probably misinterpreted the post, thinking of which was the second best league in the state instead of Hobart:confused:

No, I actually probably misinterpreted it. There is no doubt that the NTCA is better than the HCCA (and SCA for that matter), and the NWTCA probably would be too. I think that Got To Lift forgot that you guys have now got internet access up that end of the state...:thumbsu:

On the postage stamp ground I'd expect nothing less! :)

Son, have you ever been to Cambridge?

There is one square boundary that is a bit small due to the Clarence Council moving the pitch, but other than that it's a fairly big ground.

I'd be surprised if there's many longer grounds straight down your way.

She's bigger than last year's Rep Game venue - Margate - anyway!

Ironically, last year the two sides got 280 between them on a much smaller ground!

I've hit 6 straight down the ground, there. :D

Was there about 8 years ago Barge, and still go past the ground time and again. Just looks small, but the memory I had was the very quick outfield there, probably quicker than most NTCA/NWTCA grounds.

Size wise - probably similar to Hyundai Park, Riverside or Crothers Oval, George Town IMO.

Its the old story really isnt it....No Cherry no HCCA!

Played at Cambridge last Saturday. Only one boundary up the hill (towards the road), and maybe one or two down the ground. It is pretty long down the ground, but down the hill a guided shot went for 4 easy.

TCL Final Round

A GRADE

Bishopsbourne 127 (S.Graham 41, S.Prewer 28, L.Payne 3-14, S.Hernyk 3-34, B.Walker 2-4)

Legana holds top spot and earns a home semi final, and double chance. Bishopsbourne lose last two games to splutter into the finals, next week a cut-throat elim vs Hadspen

Trevallyn 235 (J.Walker 71, M.Cocker 58, S.Williams 28, J.Savage 2-29, S.Dusautoy 2-31, Q.Tahiri 2-38, A.Jacobson 2-51) defeated
Beauty Point 174 (J.Savage 89, V.Rose 26, M.Brown 22, E.Hall 5-42, J.Walker 3-10)

Trevallyn hold 2nd spot and a match against Legana next week, both sides with the double chance. Beauty Points season ends, in 7th place

ACL 3-159 (M.Darby 41, S.Woods 39*, S.Bennett 28*, D.O'Neill 25, A.Tudor 2-28) defeated
Hadspen 156 (G.Davern 73, S.Woods 3-17, P.Lambert 2-14, S.Bennett 2-30)

Hadspen finish in 4th spot, with an elimination final against Bishopsbourne next week. ACL were probably unlucky not to be contending after a 0-5 start to the year, ended only percentage out of the 4.

Beaconsfield 228 (S.Freeman 92, S.Collier 78, C.Laskey 35, S.Perry 3-27, K.Wells 2-17, C.Plumbridge 2-48) defeated

This match had no influence on the finals, with Uni collecting the wooden spoon

FINAL LADDER

Legana 12-2-2 [58]
Trevallyn 11-3-2 [48]
Bishopsbourne 10-5-1 [42]
Hadspen 7-7-2 [32]

ACL 7-7-2 [32]
Beaconsfield 5-9-2 [24]
Beauty Point 3-11-2 [16]
Uni 2-13-1 [10]

Next Weeks Finals

Legana vs Trevallyn at Legana - Legana hard to beat, with ACL being the only team to do so this season!

Bishopsbourne vs Hadspen at Bishopsbourne/Trevallyn? - Hadspen have the recent form with a win at home last round, but only Legana have beaten the Broncos at home this season, so it may depend on where its played! Loser Out!

Don't bet on it.
From what I'm told the good old Trevallyn mafia managed to skew things so they held home finals they didn't deserve in the A Reserve last season. They are bound to try it again for the A grade.

NWTCA Day 1

--------------------------

Sheffield 323 (Hizartzidis 77, Skirving 76*, Dickson 3/78)

vs Latrobe 0/22

--------------------------

NWTCA 2nd Grade - Ulverstone 89 (R. Little 20, D. Capell 3/17, J. Allen 3/23) v Wynyard 5/221 (N. Pearce 59, E. Miller 50, J. Walmsley 2/34).

Latrobe 150 (D. Squibb 33, C. Donohue 24, R. Tomkins 4/57, S. May 2/13) v Sheffield 5/54 (R. Tomkins 14, M. Bishop 3/25).

Devonport 138 (M. Barnard 46, J. Shaw 19, K. Redman 3/34, D. McRae 2/13) v Burnie Yeoman 1/19.

Devonport v Burnie - After a couple of early stutters, the Orions recovered well with steady partnerships from their middle order to give them a excellent chance of beating (and condemning) Burnie/Yeoman to the spoon. Burnie will rely heavliy on acting captain Adam Yates to score the runs next week (e.g 100+).

Ulverstone v Wynyard - An evenly balanced match here, as Ulverstone withstood some accurate and persistant Wynyard bowling to post 277 on a tame River Park track. 9th wicket stand of 70 between Walmsley and Stubbs (21) took Ulverstone from 8/203 to a competitve 277.

Sheffield v Latrobe - An entertaining day at Sheffield, with Hizartzdis, Skirving and Miles (finally) contributing and helping to 7/326 (dec). Latrobe are fighting for their season next week, what a fight it will be, will be at the game next week to see what happens here.

Westbury 264 (Battle 72, Kedey 47, Barrett 4/57, Nutting 3/56)

--------------------
NTCA SECOND GRADE - LAUNCESTON 194 (S. Evans 61, G. Joyce 41; B. Howard 4-53, A. Winstone 4-31) v MOWBRAY 3-54.

WESTBURY 7-186 dec (S. Mason 61, D. Winzar 48, S. Clay 38) v GEORGE TOWN 57 (S. Stewart 13; J. Hill 3-17, N. Butler 3-6, N. Cripps 2-13).

SOUTH LAUNCESTON 47 (P. Mackrill 8-20) v RIVERSIDE 5-80.

The top 4 looks pretty much decided here....

South Launceston v Riverside - On a soft, swinging wicket, Riverside collapsed to 5/30 at one stage before Sam Hay and Alex Saunders provided a rescue mission which gave Riverside a defendable 151. South Launceston fell apart (yet again) at the top of the order to be 6/51, will rely heavliy on Gil Leary (5*) and captain Paul Bunton (5*) to drive South to the 1st Innings lead.
They need to try and go for outright points with the first innings lead, which is worth 10 points, unlike last week's result (6 points) because of Westbury's progress against George Town.

George Town v Westbury - After George Town were sent in, they blitzed to 47 thanks to Marshall Pooley's swinging 51, but again George Town fell to shred's, thanks to Nick Spencer's career best figures of 8/19 (and NTCA season best figures). Westbury got off to a fast start putting on 70 for the 1st wicket, before collapsing to 8/142. Thanks to rescue missions from Matthew Battle (72), Richard Howe (37 at number 10), and Nick Spencer (13* at Number 11), they cruised to 264 off 50.2 overs.
It's simple for Westbury next week, they need 10 wickets for less than 141 runs to qualify for the finals in a fortnights time.

Mowbray v Launceston - After Launceston got off to yet another fast start from Belsak and Brewer of 0/116, Mowbray fought back brilliantly to bowl out Launceston for 211, before succumbing themselves before stumps, losing captain (and main striker) Clinton Reid in the last over to hobble to 4/57. All to do for Mowbray to keep their faint home final's hopes alive.

TCA First Grade was a washout - no play yesterday. Matches reduced to whole day games and NOT one day matches next week.

The rain seals the minor premiership for South-Hobart/Sandy Bay and Kingborough secure a home final. It also makes University's task very very hard to qualify, they need to beat Lindisfarne (and beat them well), and rely on South Hobart/Sandy Bay to trounce Clarence and Glenorchy to beat North Hobart. Their quotient/percentage is superior to Clarence, but inferior to North Hobart's.

What's with the final being all mid-week? Do they forget some people work who would really like to see this once-in-a-generation opportunity to see Tassie get a home final? They haven't been mid-week in the past have they?
