One of Barge's impeccable sources told me this morning that he was down at the Casino on Sat night having tea and went to the sports bar for about an hour for a beer around 9pm and the Devils where in there all suited up. One thing stood out - Cresswell was on his own the entire time wasn't talking to any of the players or officials.

A bloke at his works son said he was there around 2am when Cresswell off his head was escorted out by the police.

Apparently he was as pissed 2 weeks ago in the Telegraph and asked to leave as well.

Anyone else heard this?

Yeah, heard about Cresswell's adventures at the Tele. There was also an incident at Isobar involving at least one Devils footballer on the same night (I may have alluded to it on the forum)

and did anybody else hear that a couple of Devils were caught up in the incident outside Curly's on Saturday night?

West Coast has nothing on our boys ;)

I posted this on another forum on this site but it seems relevant now especially with what I saw on the news last night:

I agree with Kingpin, I don't see that it will come back so there needs to be more concentration on rebuilding what we have in all parts of the state. I can only speak for the SFL as I don't know whats going on up North. I believe that both the Premier and Regional leagues need to be taken over by a committee, association, board what ever as long as it has more vision than the people who currently run the league (and believe me that wouldn't be hard).

It needs to be cohesive enough to get all the clubs working in the same direction. Obviously thats not going to be as easy as it is to type it down. But at least get them all in some sort of agreement of where they should be heading.

I also think that there is not enough being done for junior developement and this has a lot to do in turn with the lower standard of the SFL. The axing of the Mariners was a disgraceful decision and heads should have rolled. The devils aren't Tasmanian in the sense that they were meant to be and they have just been a platform for AFL Tas. to justify their positions.

What ???
No talk on here about The Mercury's "premiership favourites" (Glenorchy) Almost getting beaten by Brighton (and deserved to be beaten too)??
On a different note, did anyone see the picture of "Michael Thompson" in todays Mercury? After they got it wrong with Colin Garland i wouldn't have expected them to **** up again.
  to The Mercury, who have proved they really know nothing.

I posted on the "Online South" thread about this, they're talking about Bartlett possibly playing for the Devils in their next match.

My Glenorchy sources tell me Splanny absolutely owned him on Saturday.

Also told me Monna that you guys owned the ball in or around your goalsquare for the last couple of minutes but could not conjure up that much needed goal.

Your thoughts?

I think I mentioned this early on in the season and the postwas deleted. Where is Wade on this then ???

Probably too busy managing his son's cricket contract with Victoria.

Or skulking in his office wondering how the fook is he going to distance himself of the mess the devils are in at the moment eh!

Can you guys fill me in a little more on what you are talking about. I know for a fact it would have not been any of the devils boys that played on the weekend as there was an alcohol ban in place. Sounds like some are trying to lay the boot in when they are on the ground.

Any truth to the rumour that devils boys had to box at training last wednesday with no gloves on?

Yep and footballers have ALWAYS taken notice of alcohol bans

I imagine this lack of discipline is one of the (many and varied) reasons the club is "on the ground" at the moment

Noticed in todays Mercury that Wayne Fox is angry at the lack of enthusiasm with some of his selected players for the Regional squad. Half didn't even bother showing up last Monday's training session..........wonder why?

Two weeks ago they had a "Training" session, where most of the players showed up but........There was no trainers organised to attend to the players (according to my source there has to be trainers present for a session to go ahead in case of injuries) so they ended up going down to the pub for a couple.
What a joke.....can't blame the players for taking that sort of attidute.

Less than 20 out of a squad of 53 showed up (and 4 of them were our guys). League is threatening to enforce the 3 match suspension rule that was introduced at the start of the season.

Although the clubs did vote unanimously for this. So they might need to get their players motivated.

I thought it was a 2 week ban?? Our two in the squad wouldn't have trained, both are injured and will probably not play for a few weeks. imo they picked too many old, slow and lazy blokes, who would have no interest in playing, and especially training.

A fully fit Cadoras would have been handy for the side, he would have been a walk-up start.

well it seems to be a common trend over the years with these rep sides being picked on so called reputations rather than blokes that are in form and currently having an impact on the competition, it has been the downfall of previous SFL rep sides in the past and could well be the case yet again

Correct on both accounts. Splanny smashed bartlett. I reckon he is almost in career best form at the moment. Although i didn't see him in his younger days at North Hobart, he was apparently pretty good. Definately one of the best three, if not the best backman in the comp at the moment.

A little bit dissapointing about not being able to scramble a goal, or a point even for the draw, but all in all a massive effort for the boys. Umpires got off the ground pretty quickly after the siren, a sean salter mark disallowed in the last couple of minutes (that would have been paid most days), had the crowd a bit agro. It's good to see that Brighton is going to be really competetive with the best sides this year, and should improve even further, with blokes getting to know the recruits games and vice-versa.

There seems to be a little bit of a stigma between Brighton, and the umpires. Although this year, the umpiring has been fairly even sided, it just seems the crucial decisions don't go Brightons way, like they would for a Glenorchy or a Clarence.

I think they have done a reasonably good job picking the SFL premier league squad. Blokes like Josh Nelson from Brighton, who is playing good footy, wouldn't have been picked if it was just on reputation.

Some things don't change!
It's been that way since the TFL days in the 70's, Clarence especially. ;)

You must be on drugs. Splann wouldn't be in the top 20 backmen in the comp. He zones off and cheats. He does read the play well and fills the hole well, but if asked (and should do without being asked) to go with his opponent he cops a pasting. In his younger Noth Hobart TFL days he used to be able to go with the forward and was pretty good at it, but now....no chance!

Also, I think Monna you need to look at the ladder and that will answer you question why brighton has such a poor amount of representatives in the SFL squad.

Has always been this way since the statewide teams came in to the SFL. I know that they are doing a tough job ( umpires ), but they ALL get treated that little bit better than the other teams.

Watched the Kingbourgh V Clarence game on the weekend and can honestly say it wasnt much to watch, but the umpiring was good and a pretty high standard.

Credit were credit is due

Thanks for the credit  , I reckon you would have a better chance than me!:D Or even the shepherd king - Barge who would be a match winner on his day.

Anyhows, If only less than 20 out of 53 turned up to the training session according to Oz - Does this mean that the majority of the players will be suspended for 3 weeks - The regional league clubs will be jumping up and down crying blue murder if their "better" players are suspended for 3 weeks - I can see the ballbags at AFL Tas doing a quick back pedal if that happens.
