Cadoras, Kenny Smith was short, but there was one bloke who played two's at Hobart and later at North Hobart - Shane Allie - was even shorter. :p

Shorter than 4 ft 9 or 10?

Sure he wasnt related to the Leprechaun's in Ireland? That would have been a sight on the field!:D

some lucky kid at New Town Oval scored my wallet today

How do you know it was a kid?

Could have been a "mature age" tea leaf!

No pockets in your goal umpiring strides?

Kenny Smith - I once pulled out of cleaning him up with a textbook hip and shoulder because my tucked in elbow would have got him on top of the head, thus busting the little squealer like a water melon!

Used to shriek like a hyena to the maggots when struck anywhere near his upper body and the worst thing was, as they are now, the blind white twits used to fall for it hook, line and sinker.

Was very good at getting the stupid, over zealous players sucked in!

As much as we used to hate him, he was good value.

Local footy doesn't have any of these charcters any more!

30 odd goals from the Robins, Cadoras - and you didn't find it very entertaining?

Jeez, you're a harsh judge!

Sounds like a good match between Devonport and Penguin despite the score. Injuries to L.Litch (knee) C Brown (concussion)
for Devonport and C McDonald (elbow), T Kelly (shoulder), B Fielding (hand) and B Dicker(face). Only one report in all this M Fielding(Penguin) intentionally striking C Brown. Paper reports "the game was full of niggle and passionate feeling" sounds more like the old Devonport drive-in than the football game.

Bit like your club's resident pygmy - Shaun Rowell - whats with his shocking haircut these days? - a bald red headed mullet! not a nice look.

Bit different when your club is on the recieving end - would have been a lot more better if the tables were turned!:)

Jeez, you're a harsh judge!

Nice to see the Mercury letting Channel off in today's paper

Yeah he's good player is Matt With The Hat, always gives a contest, probably past his very best days now given that he's getting a bit older but still is good.
Played a major role in Hobart's 1999 premiership and played really well under Gillbee, McGregor stuffed him around a bit when he coached Hobart and he kinda lost interest for awhile there apparently, glad to see him doing well though.

He's a genuinly nice bloke too. Probably had 4 BOG's so far this year and has saved us a number of goals. We're very happy to have him! We call him "Helmet Harvey". We have two helmets in our backline now!. Go you Thistles!

Oz -

Noticed there was only one ODFA game played - what happened to the Ross v ? game, did the umpires refuse to attend that game or was it forfeited due to Ross being unable to guarantee the safety of the umpires?

Cadoras, you'll be gald to known one S. Rowell has had the mullet trimmed since slaughtering Channel Reserves. However his haircut still fails to hide his receding hairline and balding crown.

Not a bad bloke our Shaun, except for one glaring fault - and Wilbur35 will agree with me on this - and that is he follows Essendon.

RE KIN PIN Diienno did not leave the club for money you idiot .The club was giving him petrol money to travel. He is smart enough to not say in the paper he had a problem with the coaches which is a well known fact. So rather than cause trouble to a club and team mates that he does respect it was time to move on. Of course the club is bigger than the individual. But time will tell how good the coaches are as this year they have a lot better playing list but seem to be doing no better just look at who they have beaten. Also the board have told him he is welcome back at the club anytime socially or as a player. So you idiot get your facts right Hobart is a small place its not hard to get the truth. Dont spoil this footy site with crap because it can be enjoyable to read.

Not according to a few people that are still heavily involved with your insipid little club, they weren't!
Why were there posts on the Hobart website calling for Lamprill to give up some of his wages to keep him if that's the case?
And if you had a basic grasp of English you dozy prat, you would have noticed I said 'the story I've heard', which is exactly what it was.
I also took the liberty of reading that absolutely disgraceful Hobart guestbook just a short time ago and have read some of your posts over there as well as the rest of the untelligible drivel on it (did anyone pass higher than Grade 2 English that post on there?) and have read/heard both sides of the equation.
So who exactly is telling the truth?
Seems to be a bit six-of-one, half-dozen-of-the-other.

So it's the coach's fault is it?
What exactly was the problem he had with the coaching staff up there then?
Reading some of the crap on that Hobart website, quite a few seem to be getting stuck into poor old Lamprill when it's plainly obvious that they aren't quite good enough to beat the top sides yet.
As they mature, they will go better in time, but at the moment they aren't up there with best.
Simple as that, no good of sacking coaches when that's all that they've done for many years now when the players aren't performing.
Give it a couple more seasons with an intact list and make your judgements as to how the list's developing standard wise.

Yes the club is bigger than the individual and I was inferring to the Lauderdale players that went to Hobart and left again to go back for more coin rather that sticking it to DiIenno as such, I've never met him so I can't judge his character in that regard.
Was it so bad that he couldn't have sat down with the coaching staff and come to some arrangement, and found out what the problems were?
What was the crux of the problems he had with the coaching staff?
You're the expert on this matter, you tell us.

zippybunny said:

Sounds like you're one of the ones with a problem with the coaches to be honest.
Face facts, they might've gained a few extras but you tell us who the Lions have got that's good enough and experienced enough to trouble the bigger clubs on a consistant basis at this time?
It takes time to build lists into winners and as much as I hate that club, everyone in it and everything it stands for, Lamprill did a good job when he took over from Wilson last year and took them from a rabble to the finals. Quite a turnaround, and it was noticed how you were all singing his praises.
Now have a look at how you turn on him, when it's plain to everyone outside the 'club' that at this stage of their development the Lions aren't good enough to beat the top sides yet.

Well good luck to him! I'll dance around and sing 'Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Old Oak Tree' and throw confetti in the air at this news!

Oh that hilarity of someone like you calling someone else an idiot!
Nice to see you've finally learnt how to type a sentence without Starting Every Word With Capital Letters!!!!!!!!!

I take my hat off to you - marvellous effort that!

Hobart's a small place and yet within the same club they can't even decipher which is truth and which is fiction?

Most hilarious thing I've read in - ohhhhh, maybe a day I suppose!
You perhaps should follow your own advice and stop posting some of the bullshit you post on the Hobart website.
I'm surprised that the board haven't pulled Paul Hudson up and told him to get rid of that guestbook because it continues to be an absolute embarrassment to all concerned with that club.
Gives the rest of the World the impression that the club is crawling with illiterate chimpanzees who sit there bitching at and fighting with each other.
Not a good look.

I have been out of the loop completely since I left Dodges yesterday. I will do my digging tomorrow and find out what happened.

In regards to the Regional squad, somebody rang chopper and got the names of a couple players for Fox to keep an eye on. A couple of our guys gave him a few more names to add the list down at Kermandie. If he was going on paper mentions Sam Burrill wouldn't have been in the squad based on early season form.

He's not a red-headed version of Fraser Gehrig is he?

Gracie18 has a similar problem, being an Essendon supporter that is - mind you, he has a ginger beard that is also receding :D

Today at Aurora Stadium:
North Launceston 15.16 (106) - Burnie Dockers 12.5 (77)

North far far too good here....Burnie have a very long way to go to get anywhere near the 5 in my opinion.

Thanks to Kingpin and Roorat too for posting these scores, my computer at home has packed it in...so who knows when I'll be posting the scores again??

Read in the NTFA roster for next week that Hillwood play Deloraine at Harley Parade....Roorat, can you confirm this??

RE KINGPRICK Please tell me where I said to sack the coaches,I said he could not get on with the coaches so when you correct me please also correct yourself. At least on HFC web site I put my name when commenting unlike you who only seem to be brave because you dont have to put your name to it.What a heroe you are. Please if you can tell me what your great credentials to football are mine is none but Diienno has achieved a little bit.Looking at your past posts you must have been a champion because you seem to have the answers to everything. Look forward to reply on your great achivements. Thanks to everyones comments on my typing improvement. Most constructive imformation put on here yet

RE KINGPRICK
LOL that's a good one! :D
In addition to Level 2 typing at TAFE you've brushed up on that comedy routine I see?

Given your posts are generally giberish and hard to understand, it seemed to me that you were blaming the coaching staff for Hobart's lack of performance despite a 'stronger list', would that not imply that you think that if they don't make a marked improvement up the ladder this year given the good end to last season with that 'stronger list' that maybe they should be looked at?
But you still haven't answered the question put to you, why couldn't young Jamie have sat down with coaching staff and ironed out a few of the problems?
What were the problems he had with them and vice-versa?

I actually haven't posted on the Hobart website in over two years.
I'm actually banned from there for giving Phillip Baker the mother of all sprays in 2005 - and yes, I had my name on it too.
As for Bigfooty, you don't put names on here.

Nothing on field, I gave it away to concentrate on other things when I was young tacker, but that was my choice and I'm happy with it.
But I never pretended I was a footballer did I?
Spent over 30 years following, working and doing jobs for the proper Hobart Football Club though, thoroughly enjoyed it and the great people that used to be there, not the cardboard cutout that it is now.
But having spent a lot of time around great footballing people over a long period of time you learn a thing or two.
But as per on-field - you and I are equals.

zippybunny said:

DiIenno seems to go alright, but I can't comment on his particular game as I never watched him play - I don't watch the Lions.
But I have seen a hell of a lot of very, very fine footballers playing in my time.
So, if I've got an opinion on the game, and you can't handle it - stiff shit.

zippybunny said:

See above. But since when do you need to have glittering achievements to be able to post on the game or have an opinion?
That sounds like a typical attitude straight out of the Hobart Lions handbook right there!
Anyway, stop wasting my time.

Laughable.

Oh no!
Seems like we're all getting the glitches of late.
Looks likes it's you and me Roorat! :p
Goodluck with getting the pute fixed - bastards of things that they are.
