derba will kick 140 goals this yr. the mans a freak. unless he comes back to devils later in the yr which is a possibility.

sammy WW is playing devils as well so would need to play well in those games he is with the bombers/robins to win medal!

Hasn't trained yet has he???? Picked to win obviously on the basis that he's not playing VFL. From what he told me, he was playing with Nth Bombers.

That will be a shame if Wish doesn't plays Devils. He has really come on and not to keep going would be a shame. The Devils program is an absolute paddock of carrots. Players not able to wear the jumper because they don't live in Hobart is a disgrace. The way they are spending and recruiting must be costing some dollars. When it all started it was all about developing our locals. Look how it's turned. People said that this would happen and it has.

In the Examiner today, Scott Stephens has told the Devils he is not interested in playing VFL Football in 2008 and has signed with Launceston. Launceston has also recently signed Gary Shipton and has clearances for Shannon Baker(Wynyard) and Sonny Whiting(South Launceston)
Other reported signings,
Ulverstone; Mark Harris(Qld), Sam Lovatt
Devonport; Nick Leedham.

Leedham was at Dev in 2007, rumour is he is headed to Ulv

not sure about his training but i spoke to him last week and he said he was, im pretty sure he is heading to hobart soon for a devils camp or something though.

when derba retired and announced it in a pressa, cressa said whish was playing!

Heard some interesting New Norfolk gossip the other day!

1) North Hobart have allegedly offered Brad Carver $600 per game! Carver has requested half this amount from New Norfolk, which the allegedly `cash strapped' Eagles have apparently baulked at!

2) A 2005 New Norfolk Premiership team mate of Carver's was involved in a "to do" in a Northern Suburbs Hotel last Saturday night (not `allegedly' Flood & Monna - Barge had witnesses on the scene!) which resulted in half a dozen Rozzers arriving at said venue!

And they call it the "Valley of Love!"

None of this would have happened back in Menza's day!

hey guys anyone able to tell me if there is a praccy match on at all this weekend? Coming down from the mainland for a basketball tournament in Ulverstone and wouldn't mind having a look at the standard of footy around the place.

Going to give us a name Barge?

If not send me a private message with details.

heard the other day that kingborough and brighton were playing night games at their grounds this year?? anyone know anything of this? i think lauderdale are playing 3 or 4 as well??

Played against him before he left Launceston a few years back. Was a dynamic, versatile flanker. Apparently he's put on a bit of beef, but some of the Launi connections would be better qualified to comment on this. Rep squad member too.
Can seriously pump some large weight. Explosive, strong and courageous. wow.

2008 tips for:
a) Premiership
b) League Best and Fairest
c) Leading Goal Kicker
d) Player to watch/most improved/under the radar

NTFL:
a) Launceston
b) Scott Stephens
c) Derbyshire....daylight....everyone else
d) Elijah Taylor (Burnie) rocket player, will star the competition once his injured knee is 100%

Kingston?

That ground would only require one decent light tower!
LOL park the XP Falcon up one end and flick the headlights on and that place'd be lit! :p
I wonder how'd they'd go having lights and night games down there considering how close the homes are to the ground - would be no more than 10-15 metres from boundary fence to front door up the beach end (with the tall screen fence in the way) especially in that left forward pocket.
You know what residents are like these days ;)

Be good to have more night footy, should bring a few people along to watch.
How good would've a renovated North Hobart have been with lights for night football, you could've have Friday night or even Saturday night footy with the best match of the round, a lot of people would've made their way up there to sink some piss and watch the game - broadcast it on the radio, had the TV there and show the replay the following day.
Would've been terrific :thumbsu:

North Wester your bias towards ulverstone is ridiculous! You cannot seriously pick Mark Harris as the baldock medallist when he is yet to even play in the competition....i don't know enough about Vanderfeen to comment, but ur choice as Ulverstone for the premiership is quite ridiculous as well considering you couldn't win it last year which was a significantly better side than the one available now...i.e. losses including Crawford, Whish-Wilson, Alford (most likely), Howard...and the fact is, the only thing stopped you having an ulverstone player as leading goalkicker, aside from derbyshire's obvious skill, is that ulverstone do not have a top line goal kicker!

Please reply in posts without such bias, as it is ridiculously obvious!

I will reply to you Phantom on behalf of North Wester you Knob. Launceston have lost players too, and good qaulity players, so as for picking a potential premier, i think the door is open at the minute. We don't know what Burnie and Devonport are going to be like, Ulvy are likely to sign two of the best players to play in this comp, the recruit you are talking about is skillfull, has pace and can play anywhere on the ground, hence why he has represented the state of QLD. Bold prediction yes, but not to far off the mark, he plays a similar style game to Brown from Burnie so he should attract votes, and maybe get knocked out. As for no goal kickers, they have an excellent defence and midfield, they don't have a major goal kicker because they can kick goals from anywhere, which makes them even more dangerous. We haven't seen what will happen to launy if Derba is shut down, which because he is good, is yet to happen, but thats not to say it won't.

Are you speaking of Launceston as a confusion that they are in fact who i believe North Wester should have been infering to be the premiership favourite? To be honest, i am quite keen on Burnie, but my posts do not have ridiculous bias which was the point behind what i was saying...

i.e. i didn't write

a) premiership - Burnie they will have a crack because of their outstanding recruiting because i can still see reason that there other teams out there.

b) baldock medal - one of the burnie players whom will have so much of the ball

c) goalkicker - justin plapp because he is a star etc etc.

d) player to watch - every single burnie young gun...

Instead: i wrote what i honestly believed without being clouded by bias which is the whole point of this ridiculous post!
