Adams will go to Geelong if we can't work out a deal. Varcoe and Hunt + player will get it done.

They'll relent by next week. They cant afford to miss out on Shaw so any side deals with Adams going anywhere other than the Pies (unless they give us Boyd) will force us to take Shaw off the table which would be a huge embaressment to GWS.

When did anyone ever suggest pick 9 for shaw?
If Adams chose Geelong pick 9 was always going to be part of the Shaw to GWS deal IMO, I'd be staggered if we accepted anything less considering Shaw is contracted and you've offered him a 5 year deal on good coin.

Now you've used pick 9, if Adams chooses Geelong I don't see Shaw getting to GWS.

geelongs 2 worst players haha, would laugh my ass off, gws are a joke, why the hell did the afl even bring them into the comp.

It's Silvagni not the Club itself. Look at Gold Coast and how well they have done with their list compared to GWS.

Do you really think sheedy runs our list management?
I think Sheedy has a big opinion of himself and a bigger mouth, but no he wouldn't be running it though he certainly would be loving all the attention this deal is getting GWS - after all, that is his one and only function up there - getting your mob into the media.

As I said you guys seem to be labouring under the impression that you have the only game in town - you don't, there are other young inside mids on the market which with pick 6 we are negiotating from the Eagles we can easily get.

The Adams deal should be the easiest and most elegant for both clubs, but not enough to get dicked around all over the shop by a bunch of amatuers.

My opinion only -

Pies to GWS "Put up or shut up"
GWS to Pies "Please sir I want some more"
Pies to GWS "Screw you Oliver - back to Piccidilly lane for you"

In other words trade in good faith or piss off because you don't have a captive market here.

Just keep Shaw. Problem solved.

Not going to happen, his trade value at the moment is just too good to ignore. I do think we should start shopping him around to other clubs though, just to see what they might offer.

If another club offers us something better than Adams, or even something equal we could then approach Shaw and his management and ask if he'd go to that club.

I can't under any circumstances see Shaw playing at Collingwood next year now.

I was just trying to bluff the GWS recruiters with a hard line tactic (because I know they read my posts) :)

If the deal doesn't get done then so what it's not the end of the world. If we are relying on Adams to improve our side next year than we are in some trouble as a team. Yes he will be good for the future but we still have Ball and Beams for next year it's not like we are desperate to get Adams to the club. What I call desperate is the Dogs needing a key forward and the saints needing a key defender. As stupid as this will sound, White will be more important to our side next year structure wise than Adams and so would Henderson with his kicking from the backline that we lack.

If we miss out on him then I am sure there will be young players coming out of contract next year from other clubs that we can go after. We don't need a team that has been in the comp for two years and has the first two picks of this years draft to bend this proud football club in a trade. They have been given an easy ride by the AFL and stupid dumb clubs like Melbourne who are giving them great picks, it's time to bend them over on this deal and I think we can due to their desperation to get some experienced good players. Regardless of what GWS supporters say, their club has made it clear that they want mature players and here is a rare occasion that a player has actually nominated to play for them. There is no way they can let this slip.

Really happy with what Collingwood is doing and how they are approaching this period. I don't care how boring this is and how long it takes as long as we get the right deal even if it takes till the last minute next Friday. The trade period isn't an entertainment period for supporters it's serious business for football clubs.

Very True Matty. He Wants out and This is is when his Value be it's Highest.

The Chance of getting a Young Gun Like Adams won't come along Much

There is no way Shaw can stay now as much as we want him to stay. I love Shaw but he doesn't want to be at the club anymore, forcing a bloke to stay when he doesn't want to becomes a cancer to the culture and we will be worse off culture wise next year than we were this year.

It's sad it had to end like this with Heath but to me him not going to the b&f after being considered a Collingwood man all his life tells me that the break up between Collingwood and Shaw hasn't been as good as it's made out to be by both parties.

I have a sneaking suspicion some of the Pies players didn't want them there.

Lol @ everyone shitting themselves.

The ball is in GWS' court. They finally have a player who wants to go there and is arguably their biggest catch yet for all the right reasons PR wise and on talent.

A straight swap is very reasonable and fair.

They won't trade Adams anywhere else. He is in play because they want Shaw. Simple.

Well if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out.

Life will go on.

Giving pick our pick 11, for their pick 19, represents a pretty big theoretical gap from a one for one swap.

Big PR loss for them, though of course they'll blame our recalcitrance - and Heater loses his pay deal, also we'll lose Adams, all of which are sad, so hopefully a way forward will be found.

This deal will be done although GWS are proving to be painful to deal with. If GWS are playing the card that we are pushing him out the door I think we put out a story about how we are happy to keep him if there isn't a workable deal.
