His kicking isn't the issue, it's his decision making. He just goes for the impossible too often. In general, he is an ok kick, not brilliant, but definitely capable. He just makes stupid decisions....usually to centre the ball or switch in dangerous positions. He needs to smarten up. He had a massive start to the year, and it seemed a lot of these issues were behind him. But his form has regressed slightly in the last month
he has massive issues with his kicking, His ball drop is really high nd his technique is terrible, i dont think its something it can be fixed, the only time i have confidence in his kicking is when he has time and thinks about it which is rare.

It's not a great technique, I agree 100%. But I think most of his clangers are poor decisions than shank kicks.

In relation to when the clangers occur, I find it most often when he actually has time and space. The more he thinks, the more likely he will muck it up. When he acts on pure instinct, he is more accurate.

Guy reminds me of Licuria. He managed to get over his kicking issues. Would be a disaster to get rid of one of the few who always gives 100% and looks devo when we lose. Our movement is also so very poor which is leading to a lot harder kicks being attempted. We have mastered the strategy of jogging slowly over to one side of the oval, and the other strategy which is stand 15 mt away and scream for the ball whilst standing right next to your opposition.

I think you're right - technically I think his kicking is sound - maybe he just needs to find his limitations and try and work within them.

mind you he wasn't on his Pat Malone yesterday as far as turnovers are concerned - Howe cost us dearly a couple of times and even the Captain was unusually poor.

I have to disagree.

I personally think he struggles from both a technique and decision making perspective. My issue is that he either has no idea how poor he is by foot or refuses to acknowledge it! Of all the players in our team he needs to be going at a ratio of 2:1 handballs to kicks because anytime that he's getting 15+ kicks throughout a game it isn't a positive for us.

We've invested too much into him to trade him out, but damn he needs better coaching on his preparedness to kick!

Nah he's a poor kick, his problem is he trys to kick it too low and he really loads up on it, often off one step and he often takes it upon himself to make the inboard kick, he shouldn't be the one making that kick especially if a fast low kick is required to pull it off.

I love him as a player but he needs to change his mindset, needs to go down the line or handball.

Starting to cost us games.

Didn't matter last year when we weren't really in games, but he's starting to continuely turn the ball over during critical periods.

Needs a roll change and need to see him handball far more than kick.

He is a Massive Momentum Killer. We build the Momentum and it goes away when he hits the Oppopstion on the Chest and they kick a Goal From It

Geez you sure have turned quick on Tay. What happened to your man crush on him.

When he Improves his Kicking and not being the Other Teams Best Kick and Player when he plays for the Oppostion

11 clangers.

To be fair about half of those were hail Mary kicks or handballs while laying under a pack. Howe managed 7.

Tbf to him at least he tries to play the way we should be playing. A lot of the others continue to take the safe option of handballing it back or go sideways. Not the greatest kick but we're not getting the best out of him as a team.

Yes, this. Adams shouldn't be trying to do what he's being asked to do most weeks, like playing across half back or even forward. His greatest weapon is his hardness at the contest and extraction skills. As a leader he may want to do more for the team, and in the very real absence of polished players in those positions he is being played there, but those spots are not his go. Maybe they will one day, but not yet. He battles hard and gives his all, but the unbalanced team we are now is not getting the most out of him.

Thats BS. You can call Adams a lot of things but a momentum killer is not one of them. He's one of our few players who is actually willing to take the game on and move the ball quickly rather than holding it up when he takes a mark. His kicks don't always come off, but I'll guarantee you he's involved in creating more goals than he gives up.

Can't believe you've turned on him so hard when he's actually one of our better players now Dave. It's like you support the young underdog players until they actually become solid important parts of the team and then you turn around and take a dump on their face when they don't become the best player in the league.

Pretty Said a Ball Butcher like him is 1 of our Best Players. Yes he can take game on but his Turnovers are Huge as the Result in goals kicked against us.

Still a Fan but needs to improve kicking big time

Howe is a great kick and he was contributing to turnovers leading to goals. The problem is that our movement means our players need to be elite in kicking to hit targets. Taylor would have looked like a great kick playing fo the hawks yesterday as they always had free players and options.

Howe has a good technique.

Adams has a poor technique.

That'll never change now.

Sometimes you just can't win. Hounded for not taking a risk. Hounded if you do and doesn't come off. Like you and others have said I'd rather him have a crack at a risky kick through the middle the chip sideways and go no where. Sometimes it only seems like Tay and Howe are the only two out there with a set that actually try and create something out of nothing.

The only sad thing here is that you've turned on one of the only players we have that works hard both ways and gives his all every single week.
