Lol if anyone who knows Madonna will know that Madonna never drinks while on tour! No artist is more disciplined then Madonna on tour.

Then how the hell do you explain what goes on between 1:08 - 1:30? It's truly bizarre

To be honest, I don't mind the song at all. Pity it's ruined by the 4 minutes of dribble leading up to it.

"If you're a rebel heart and you know it clap your hands!"

Hmmm every concert before she sings rebel heart she get her fans to clap to the song!!

Atleast Madonna has a personality unlike Taylor Swift.

Madonna is also a great dancer unlike Taylor. Taylor can write a good song and can sing but that's about it!!! As soon as her teenie bopper fan base grows into adult hood in 5 years time where will Taylor be???

Saying she can sing is even a stretch.

Out of complete curiosity, I thought that I would revisit the "Like a Wurjen" debacle via the modern wonder of Youtube.

It's even worse than I remember....

You prick, I got through the first 57 secs and that's all I could take.

I'm off for therapy now.

She must have employed Hird's PR team who told her it was a good idea, and she listened!!

Damn, I'm in my 40s, where will that leave me?

Taylor is a good singer. She isn't outstanding but she's definitely not someone who's a total fraud.

The thing about Taylor Swift is that she's pretty capable of writing the majority of every song she puts out. She basically comes into the studio with the main hook and melody, obviously the lyrics or a general few, and then a pretty simple to fully fleshed out guitar part. That guitar part can stay in the final song (We Are Never Ever...) or it's abandoned but the main hook is still there (Something like Shake it Off or Blank Space).

In pop music, you have to give that a serious amount of respect. Her producers produce no more than your average massive 'indie' band.

Madonna couldn't play an instrument never writes her own songs. Then there's someone like Adele who's a glorified opera singer doing pop songs not one inch written by her.

I dare say that she may have thought that it was a mighty fine idea ... and then everybody around her was too shit scared to tell her just how abysmal it sounded.

Also, Taylor has already written an entire album solo, no co-writers whatsoever. There's not many mainstream pop artists who could claim to have that achievement under their belt. And she was only 20 years old when that one (Speak Now) was released, which makes it even more remarkable. If anyone is doubting how much of her music Taylor actually writes herself, check out this interview from one of her old co-writers:

“The reason it worked is that I didn’t get in her way,” she says. “With Taylor, it really was editing. That’s never anything that she said — that’s just how it was… with her, that’s really what I do, and it’s unlike the way I’ve written with anybody else before or since. A lot of it with Taylor was editing and moving this there and saying, ‘Well, what if we said it like this?'”

Here's another one with that same co-writer that goes a bit more in depth, but the same sentiment is there.

Went on Thursday only having heard about 4 songs of hers and thought the same. Was blown away by how talented she is. The only live act I've seen that I'd put on the same level as Springsteen. I then spent the weekend actually listening to 1989 in full (amazing album) and then going back and listening to her old albums. She's an amazing artist. Exceptionally talented. Some of my favourites:

Haunted is ******* incredible. You'd listen to 1989 and never guess it was the same artist. Like, ever.

I hate to admit it, but I love her songs

Sorry but Madonna writes her own music. Wrote 3 songs from her first album then every song from 1986! And Madonna play's the guitar so get your facts straight mate.

Album of the Year!! she is wonderfully talented and intelligent. Those Grammy sessions where she plays 1989 acoustically are magical and you can still hear her country roots. She's so massive because she has the ability to write lyrics that connect with people of all ages. Sometimes you don't know how to describe how you're feeling but then you'll hear one of her songs and realise she's perfectly encapsulated that exact feeling you were trying to process in a 4 minute song..... remarkable really.

Agreed! She's now the first woman to win the Grammy for Album of the Year twice, and she's also the youngest ever winner of that award. A lot of people seem to dismiss her, but that is no small achievement. Now I seriously hope that she takes a bit of extra time off between albums and comes back even better with the next one. As much as I enjoy 1989, I'm actually hoping her next album isn't overly poppy. The Grammy sessions performances really make me want her to do a really stripped down acoustic album. I think she'll do something like that eventually, but I doubt if she'd do that immediately after an album like 1989.

Good speech but FFS when she won it she was putting on such a false face of surprise. Jesus – your album was abslutely massive. You've won one before... you even won one earlier in the night, it's not a shock, you know it, don't pretend to cultivate this earthy look.
