Just wanted to say well done to 2 of them who have had a great start to the year, both have been questioned as to how they would step up this year esp Clokey and both thus far have stepped up to the plate.

T Bird has been excellent both weeks, did an outstanding job on Browne..who is in the best 5-10 players in the comp and not only held him to 3 goals he also bet him in a number of one on ones, attacked the footy and run of browne on countless occasions. Did a Similar job in Rd 1, he started so many forward thrusts will his ability to read the ball in the air.. Mark Rilley recently said that the guys in the back 6 really look up to T Bird..Loved seeing him and Waitey fly the flag when Dog Brown hit murph behind play..T Bird really let him know you dont do that to a fellow Blue!!! Will now need to step up ever more in the absence of Jammo.

Big Clokey..so many on this board over summer did not think C Cloke was up to playing the all important role of CHF..yes it is only early days.but i could not be happier with the big guy..last week he kicked 2 goals and provided a real target and the best thing is he droped a few marks he would normall swallow so could have kicked another 1 or 2..and in rd one he did not kick a goal but he presented all day..took a truck load of marks and was a real target from wing to the CHF position..not to mention his nice little touch in cousins..and his big dont argue..Cloke will get better in this role as the season wears on...and unlike Wiggins and Fish is a great kick at goal..just like Big Kev..im excited!

Yeah you can definately tell that Thornton is in charge of the backline. Really makes and effort to get them organised and is ALWAYS there backing up his teammates. One of the best things about him. I love seeing him get fired up!

Cloke, was probably my most hated opposition player before he came to the Blues. Now he's one of my most loved players in the team. Gives 110% every week and it now seems he's really making quite an impact on the field. Which is vital for someone with a body size like his.

Yup definitely agree with this.. pretty sure it was last week where he gave away the free kick just to the left of the brisbane goal square. Had the ball in his hands and made sure the boys were looking after anyone without a man before passing the ball to the brisbane player. I mean he only held it for a few seconds and it was something small but it did high light the influence and leadership he has down there.

Nobody seems to mention on these two because it means that a lot of them have to go back on their word.

Clokey was always going to play a huge role for us. He doesn't get 35 possessions or kick 6 goals a week, but he sets up, blocks - basically does the one-percenters that the likes of Juddy and Murphy are too busy to do.

Don't rate his sister much, though.

And to think only last year people were calling for Thornton's head.

As I see it, the thing with T-Bird last year was that he started off in great form, but then he had that knee injury.... and after that when he came back I reckon his kicking and maybe general movement were badly affected for the rest of the year. I mean I was pretty nervous when he was kicking out of defense at that stage because that's how much it seemed affected.

However this year he seems fully fit, and as a result he's looking and playing as good as ever :thumbsu:

Disposal looks good and all aspects of his defense (except for the occasional silly free he gives away) is looking real sharp. I'd actually say he's quite underrated.

As for Clokey, you couldn't ask for much more from him, he tries his hardest and does what he has to. And it's obvious he has a great relationship with all the boys (well, except maybe one...).
He's certainly not quick, but an interesting thing I've noticed about him at times is often when he is leading he appears alot quicker than other times... I could be wrong, but that's just my observation. It might be possible for him to eventually add a little extra pace in general play, I don't know, I'm no athletic expert.

Also, the biggest positive... he is yet to play 50 games :thumbsu::thumbsu:
