Out: Davis
In: One of Goldsack, Medders, Tarks or Inanimate Carbon Rod.

No way Nate Brown deserves to be dropped. I bet Davis plays though and we make no changes.

Whilst I agree that Davis was poor for much of the game (haven't watched a replay yet..) from memory was Baker on him? If he goes who gets Baker - certainly not Goldy. Many of our players didn't play at their best - not often you get an immediate chance of redemption in Footy, so hope the players make the most of this opportunity.

Changes on the basis of injuries I would expect.

Looking forward to next week already. :thumbsu:

GO PIES :D

It's not going to be a swap forward pocket for forward pocket. Pies need to release more speed into the middle and that means either Heath Shaw or Ben Johnson. To do this, Leon goes out, Goldsack goes in.

Why the feck doesn't Leon get a run through the middle??

He aint a forward pocket, his best footy was when he was roaming around the middle and winning clearances.

If you want an opportunist forward bring in Medhurst.
If you want a defender bring in Goldy.
If you want a bloke who you know will give 110% bring in Lockyer.

If you want more speed in the middle, fecking move Leon out of the FP and let him run through the middle.

Picture this, we played sack instead of davis. The scores are tied, Goldsack marks in the centre square with about 15 seconds to go, he does his legendary torp, goes through as a behind, we win. :D

In: Goldsack
Out: Leon

After reviewing the game, and all the stats that go with it, I'm changing my ins and outs;

IN: Tyson Goldsack
OUT: Luke Ball

Unlike Presti, who had the balls and the character to stand up and say he was injured, Ball didn't stand up and say he was struggling.

He was clearly injured yesterday, in fact only Leon Davis and Michael Gardiner had less time on the ground then him.

As for Leon, as bad as he was for most of the game, I watched the last quarter, and if Beams hits Davis with that handball out wide, Leon may well have kicked 2 last quarter goals and won us the GF.

Leon can still turn a game in 5 minutes, if he is anywhere near 100% fit, I'd play him again.

But Luke Ball can't play next week, he had a shocker, and looked injured to me.

Wow, harsh Matty. All reports from training said that Ball looked perfectly fine. Even if he was only at 90% who would we have brought in for him? You can't leave all the inside work to Blair, he's only 20 for crying out loud.

So Ball just had a shocker then?

I really can't figure it out.

All things point to him either playing injured or reinjuring himself at some point of that game.

He had very little on the field time, he had very few possessions, and some of those were woeful, and he had absolutely no impact on the game at all.

He was our worst player IMO, and I'm one of his biggest fans, but he was woeful yesterday, and the only explanation I can come up with is injury.

Ball was quiet from all sorts, but I'd still take him crawling on his hands yet still throwing himself at the ball than Leon Davis.

Leon needs to learn that you can't just expect the ball to fall into your hands, you've gotta work for it as Luke did yesterday.

Not saying Ball wasn't injured, he probably was. Just that he appeared to be fine, most people on here didn't think there was any doubt at all on him. But he's so vital for us, especially against a side like St Kilda who thrive on winning constested ball, the coaches probably thought it was worth rolling the dice on him. I still would myself. We can't win against the Saints if we don't win at the stoppages, and Ball has become so important to that area of our game that I don't think we can afford not to play him.

I thought we had a lot of sub par performances.

Other than Daisy and Johno to a lesser extent, the on ballers and midfield weren't at their best. Swan, Pendles, Wellers and Ball were all quiet by their own standards. Stains wanted the ball more and went in hard. Plenty of room for improvement next week. That bodes well for us.

The big forwards were pretty ordinary. They didn't take many big grabs or bring the ball down to small forwards advantage but that may have been about delivery and the extra numbers the Stains got to the contests in our forward line. Usually the Cloke/Dawes combo with Leroy or Jolly dropping in has worked this season. Sts effectively shut that down.

I expected more from Leon but most of the time the ball was delivered into the F50 was to the bigs and Sts always had numbers at the contest. Sidey, McCaff and Didak were pretty good. I'd put Blair and Beams at around Leon's level in terms of contribution. The structures, match ups and set ups didn't favor the small/mid size forwards and the bigs didn't deliver either.

I'd be reviewing footage to find areas to improve in forward setups. I'd like to see Cloke, Dawes, Leon, Blair and Beams working together more as a unit.

Backline was good on the whole. Presti would have to put his hand up pretty confidently to even be considered. N. Brown copped a battering but if he's fit, he earned his place.

I can't see room for too many changes but if there were to be changes I'd have Presti, Tarks, Medders (a bit iffy recently but plenty of experience and form in big games) and The Sack as my first choices.

I'd say we've got enough room to improve with the existing side to a point where we should blow the Sts away in GF2.

In the '77 GF draw, Roos had 32 (9-22) scoring shots to Pies 26 (10-16) but converted those misses the following week and won by 27. Some of our misses yesterday were atrocious. Next week we should reverse yesterday's scores i.e. 14-9 to 8-10.

I'd like to see more of the attack and intensity that was displayed in our first two finals. I reckon the Sts had their blinder yesterday but we survived. With a lift in the form of our better players and some straighter shooting we should bring home the bacon.

Go Pies!

Now I've calmed a bit I'm warming more to Leon staying in, if that handballed had hit and he got that very obvious push in the back he could have walked away with 3 goals and been the match winner.

But the question is, how do we get more speed in the middle, the answer is either Luke Ball has a better game which would rebalance the side, or Goldy comes in to push Heater or BJ into the middle permanently.

We would be in trouble if Ball misses, as it would mean Pendles needs to become our main clearance player and we lose his class. If Ball went out I'd keep Leon in and put him on the ball in Pendles roll.

OUT: Davis
IN: Goldsack

Leon's goal was vital, but he did nothing else.

Goldsack comes in to do a forward tag on Sam Fisher, and Caff to do a job on Gilbert. If I see these two zoning off and taking uncontested marks from our forward entries I will spew. Gwilt is another to watch, but that's up to Dawesy to step-up and curb his influence, or at least make him more accountable by getting into more dangerous spots and making a contest.

If Goddard plays across half-back, Goldsack needs to go to him. Our midfielders need to show much greater intensity, too often they got easy clearances from the stoppages by just waltzing through and being able to turn to their end.

Cloke needs to play like the size he is. ****ing use your size. And we need to stop kicking it to him when he is triple-teamed!

Each and every player needs to play like their lives depended on it, because at times yesterday I was questioning whether we even wanted to win, there was certainly no doubting they wanted it.

i'd go Davis OUT Goldsack IN
Dawes OUT Medders IN
the sack to play defensive foward, go on goddard or fisher
& we need medhursts good use of the ball wasn't to impressed by dawes.
Medhurst can hit targets in foward 50, score couple goals.

Id would be so good if Tarks comes in and leaves with a premiership medal, I love the bloke.

I have suported Leon through his whole career but after yesterday I have officially lost faith in him. I dont like his attitute, he looks like he doesnt care and the way he stands with his hands on his hips, he has the rockstar attitute and I think he really needs to be put in his place and drop him. His efforts stink! Id deffs drop and it would probley be for Tarkyn. Tarkyn at least can mark and he can kick goals from anywhere inside 50 and that will be vital to beating the Saints. We cant drop Brown for Presti after his performance yesterday and Presti has been out for a long time and wont be fit enough to keep up with the GF pace. As for Medhurst, he is no chance of coming in the team, he doesnt get along with Mick and he will not be at Collingwood next year.
