Re: Teams RD 3:- Swans v Blues..Ground Combat.

Still hadn't edited it after I posted. He posted just the team all run together with no formatting and no write up when I replied.

Shown up by an edit job.

Sorry great one, that is why you should get your MOD status back. Because of people like me.

Re: Team vs. Sydney

With that team named, I can now guarantee a loss for Carlton on the w/end ...
Our backline won't be a match for the gorillas in Sydney's foward line IE Hall, Micky O etc ..
SHocking decision not to bring in Carlos ..

Swans by 45 points.

Agree!

If he is atleast 90% fit, he should be in.

If anyone thinks Scotland can't do a better job than Russell deserves a swift punch to the face!

Agree 100%.

Dissapointed Heath is not getting a game while Russell is.

Hopefully the MC will get it right and we will only know come 5pm Saturday!

Can someone tell me what Scotland did to get dropped?? and why he still isnt in the team? I know he didnt have a great game against lions, but everyone is entitled to an off day. Surely his strong body would be perfect for a game at the SCG??

Agree?? Disagree??
Wasn't O'Keefe BOG against Scotland last year? ;)

Brownlow Votes
3. Ryan O'Keefe, Sydney
2. Darren Jolly, Sydney
1. Bryce Gibbs, Carlton

Yet we will probably play ROK into form without Scotland.

Scotland isn't match fit.

We might well as select Yarran if you want to go into a battle against Sydney with underdone players.

I'm fine with the selections.

Making wholesale changes for round four would be a case of hitting the panic button.

Premature.

I'm pissed at the Match Committee and Ratten right now ..

Our lack of height in the backline was exposed bigtime last week, and I would bet my house on that if Carlos played last week against the scum, we would have won (i'm deadly serious btw)

For Gorillia's like your Lloyds or your Barry Halls, your much better off with Carlos then Mr soft c#$k, Bret "Joel bowden' Thornton, and Bower is more of a flanker then a key position defender ..
What the bloody hell more does Carlos have to do at Preston to get a call-up ??? We need him in this side, esp now Jamison is still out injured ..

I can't see us honestly stopping Sydney's foward line with all the height they have up there ..

swans will win by around 8 goals i'd reckon

After seeing the Swans squad i'm still questioning the Setanta non selection. This means Waite will have to play tight as White/Jolly will spend plenty of time up forward. Also i can also see O'Keefe playing deep because it seems he may have a Russell/Grigg/Johnson on him. I think it will be interesting to see if the decision to leave a tall out again this week is the right thing to do this week because i think they got it wrong last week.

To all those calling for Santy: Why would we play 4 tall backman when there is one tall Key forward, who is very much in doubt anyway? Im sure one of Bower, Waite or Thornton can cover him and another go to Ryan O'Keefe. Majority of the swans goals come from midfielders pushing forward. Im sure Waite can still be his attacking self playing on Jesse White if he does push forward.

Agree, we needed Carlos there as a tall, even coming off the bench if neccessary, for depth, to play forward or back, just in case they put Jolly forward or to curb the height of Hall?

We really need some hard nuts, who put their bodies in around the stoppages. Browne would have been handy, he goes in hard. I would have preferred him to Russell who is a bit timid for my liking?

Waite and Bower provide run out of defence. They're not made for your Barry Hall types. Then there's Jolly resting forward. Waite can be freed up to use anywhere if we picked Setanta.

Grundy is no mug and neither of those 3 we have has the capability to limit Hall IMO, not to mention the occasions when Jolly plays up forward. Those big aggression forwards is our weakness and we don't have anyone in our line-up that can defender against those types. I believe they will have 3 talls down there most of the time plus O'Keefe.

Hall - Thornton/Bower
Grundy - Bower/Thornton
Jolly/White - Waite
O'Keefe - Russell/Grigg/Johnson

We now loose the attacking flair of Waite because when the ruckman spend time down their he will have to play tight. I'm much more confident in our team when Waite can go where he wants to go. Last week he was stuck to play in defense due to the lack of talls and i'm afraid it might happen again this week.

By the way, the O'Keefe match-up worries the hell out of me.

Garlett has a big future for us. He would have learnt a fair bit playing in the seniors, and now he can quietly go about his business in the reserves. Good to see Armfield back in the side, lots of pace to run the lines at the small ground.

What a crazy statement, Carlos is worth eight goals to the result is he, and besides Micky O is not even playing.

You're a lost cause Alpha!

Re: Team vs. Sydney

Suprised to see Joseph dropped. Was absolutely towelled up last week. Surely Scotland would be of better service against a team like Sydney?

Staggered really.

All comes down to supply. Didn't Zac Dawson control Hall in round 1?

I think if we put enough pressure on the ball carrier it will be enough to help our defenders out , remember last week the ball was going into essendons forward 50 with no pressure what so ever , this makes it so much harder for our defenders to compete.

Re: Teams RD 3:- Swans v Blues..Ground Combat.

Grrr, I want Setanta in!

Still not too unhappy with the one change though, gives the boys a chance to atone for last week.

You'd have to wonder where his future is now. You'd have to think that going up against Essendons and Sydneys forward line, he would have been a very good chance of getting a game. No chance of returning next week vs Western Bulldogs, and you'd think that Jamo would be back for the game vs Hawthorn.

Could be pretty safe to say that his career will be over at the end of the year.
