I'm just testing the changed height of my template now.
Not a huge fan of the large gap between shorts and socks.

New background thing. Text is currently saying "Generic Team Name". Better or worse than the old background?
Basically, the main colour on the guernsey will be the text, then a darker shade of the same colour for the background.

The darkness difference should be a few points of brightness at most IMO.

too busy too distracting
Fair, the socks probably get lost in it all now that I see it..

So, make the background colour more similar to the text? Like the first background?

Also, I might change from that font if I decide a simple font change on the logo is necessary :p

I'd suggest more similar, but if you want a contrast that's fine, you just need a way to get your kits to stand out. You probably don't want your kits getting too lost in the background. You could do the background in a team colour that isn't well represented on the guernsey, so in that example do the background in sky blue.

Your kit just needs to pop, not get lost in the background.

True, I'll do both variations and see what happens. Might need some shadows under all of it.

Is the template itself good? I feel like I'm losing a lot of votes since I switched to it..? (I've also never received a vote from one poster on here while this has been in use as well..)

I think the template is fine, I don't think it's actively costing you votes but people with really good templates might be getting votes off of you. Because you've got it looking like it's laying flat, there isn't a whole lot more you can do with your shading, except maybe darken it and add some stitching to match the shorts, which are great.

I'd totally redo the sock, I don't like it. I know it's difficult to do well laid flat because that's how socks look, but I'm not a fan.

Mix up your numbers and fonts a little more than you do. White I know 43 is a footy number it's not a common one. I really like the collar design.

You're not far off at all, but I don't love your FIRA design or colours, which is what is costing you my vote as opposed to any template issues.

Yeah, seems that way.

There is/should be stitching there on the guernsey, but I used a different technique for it, so it's probably not as obvious..

Okay haha, yeah I've had some struggles with that sock, and finding a decent flat one to trace.

I can try changing up fonts, but I'm trying to keep it like Puma do and stick with the one font for the year.
No problem, might switch it up with 13 or something, then. Thanks, I am proud of that collar!

That's fair, I was hoping that was the case.
Thank you for all the feedback, I'll see what I can do :thumbsu:

I'd do a frosted background, as in use gaussian blur to create depth and draw attention to your design more than the background.

So, here is my update.
Changed to my last number in soccer, 13 (which is actually I3 in the font I use) and changed the setting which didn't show the original stitching all too well on the guernseys.
Yes, I know the sock is still there. I haven't had any time for that, sorry Scorch! Added the blur (it turned into an inner glow instead) and added white shadows behind everything.

Also, this is not white on the guernseys, this is light grey. My shading isn't that extreme! 2017 Flat Template.png

Had a go at adding some long sleeves to Scorch's template. Thoughts? I'll add a texture to the guernsey as well too.

I like what you've made but I feel like the ripples you've made in the fabric don't quite go with the smooth curves in the guernsey body imo. I'd roughen up the curves on the sides to make the template your own a bit more.
