I like what you've made but I feel like the ripples you've made in the fabric don't quite go with the smooth curves in the guernsey body imo. I'd roughen up the curves on the sides to make the template your own a bit more.
I tried, but I really hated how it looked, so unfortunately I'll have to leave it like that, which sucks.

Just try again.

Ripples are hard but everything is hard until you've practiced enough.

The sleeves I made for it are fairly smooth to keep it the same style as the front for info.

Ok, this is what I have now. I had a look at how people were doing it in the NAFL and I took inspiration from there. I'll have to fix up the bottom soon, but for now this is where I'm at.

I know I've responded to these already but this was a year and a half ago so this is more of an update.

Change the collar.
:heavycheck:You said larger so I did that but I wonder how it would be to create other manufacturers collars...
Fix the socks.
:circle:Still a challenge, I've tried a few times in this past year and a half, but didn't get desired results so in the short I'm sticking with these until they get fixed.

Start again.
:crossmark:I'd like to give it a try in something before I scrap it completely.
It's not even close to a skintight Aussie rules jumper.
:crossmark:Possibly because I don't like playing in tight fitting jumpers or jerseys and would then provide an alternative.
You've gone way overboard with the shading and grey lines thing (I don't even know what they're meant to be). I'd actually drop it completely, because shading ain't the easiest thing to do, and if you can't do it properly, then it just looks awful.
:heavycheck:I mentioned before that I had considered it, but I am going to do it on a case by case basis. I have lightened the shading for when I intend to use it, but will not depend on it to save too many concepts.
Finally, that background is giving me a migrane.
:exclamation:The background is generally more faded than that and is supposed to be primarily a technique to prevent borrowers (who don't ask for permission).

Anyways, here's the after - just with a new design:

*Larger collar
*No shading effects
*Front arm cuffs altered so jersey interior is hidden
*Socks still WiP

The gap between each leg of the shorts is way too big. If you don't want to trace, I'd suggest looking at the template and imagine how a person would be standing in it. If it looks unnatural, adjust your template accordingly and repeat. Aside from that, it's a good improvement on the last version.

I'll be sure to "mind the gap" while I'm revising the socks...

My advice would be to start over.
Obviously, we've seen some great template evolutions, I'd probably say Dylan8 and fancyscum are the best examples of this, but they started with footy templates, not a hockey template without sleeves. Right now it doesn't look like a footy jumper. Right now you need to find an image with a better shape to trace. Tracing in paint.net isn't hard, I've used it and I'm pretty comfortable with it. My suggestion is to go to various AFL club stores and find images that have a good shape and trace them with the line tool.
You have to keep trying. Obviously, your first attempt won't be perfect, so keep at it until you get what you're happy with.

Another thing I would add is to not get too attached to what you've done. At the end of the day it is everyone else that's going to be voting on your stuff, so at least trying out changes that other people are suggesting is going to lead to better results in comps.

I'm trying to integrate some shorts into my template, which has also led to a couple of tweaks to the shape of my guernsey at the bottom. Do these shorts look better than what I've currently got? I think it will look better with socks, which I'm yet complete.

Your template still feels a little bit long and narrow for me, especially narrow at the shoulders, which means you'll have issues cramming logos up the top where league and sponsor logos usually go. Otherwise it's coming along really nicely. Shorts work well with the guernsey. I like how you've used shading on the cuffs and collar. I'd like to see it in darker colours as well to see how the shading goes

Finally decided to have a crack at making a template. Any feedback would be appreciated :)

Other than being a bit narrow at the top IMO, it's clean and well executed. Looking forward to seeing some designs on it!

Would love some tips or feedback on this. Thanks :D (I also have all the different collars too.)

Really good for a paint template. My only two issues would be that your curves occasionally have a few corners in them, and that your cuffs probably shouldn't stick out so much at the bottom. Again, looking forward to seeing it with a few designs.

It doesnt work in paint... just tried it

I'm using the template used for the hawks clash guernsey comp but I'm making it compatible for every team by putting all the other collars on there too. This is the hawks one with the updated collar. Thoughts and feedback please? :)
