I don't see what's wrong with Fletcher. It's a pretty old name that's come back into fashion.
Really only a problem in cases like this where his surname is primarily associated with being a first name and his first name is primarily associated with being a surname. Scott Fletcher is more likely than Fletcher Scott. I just find it weird :p

If it had an é on the end it would be pronounced Simon-ay.
Si-morn-eh I'd say.

My cousin is Simone (female) and I come from an Italian background. There was never any confusion growing up, however we called her Simon relentlessly.

man calls his daughter 'Isis', now imploring terrorist organization to change their name and for the media and public to stop referring to the organization by it's name...
Enjoyed this tweet from Adam Rozenbachs on the matter:

Nothing wrong with the name Isis. The organisation in question changed their name back in June to simply Islamic State (or IS for short), but even if they hadn't Isis would still be a perfectly acceptable girl's name.

Oh absolutely, it's a perfectly cromulent name. But her parents have been a special kind of ridiculous in their assertion that a global terror organization should operate at the convenience of an 8 year old girl

Served this bogan looking family at work last night. The kids names as I heard them were 'Rider' (Or 'Ryder' both are stupid), 'Ody' no clue how to spell that, and 'Hunter'.

A trifecta of shitty names.

Odie, like the dog from Garfield? would explain a lot.
Odie.gif

The parents didn't really look like the Garfield watching sort of parents.

They looked like the Mad skids in the Commo, Love me a Monster Energy Drink, wears Tapout clothing sort of Parents
