In an idea world how would have you have like us to have of drafted since Terry Wallace has been at tigerland????? Here's some of my thoughts, let's here yours!

2004 Draft:

1. Deledio (satisfied)

4. Tambling
- could of had:
Franklin (HAW)
Lewis (HAW)

12. Meyer
- could of had:
Wood (BRIS)
Bate (MELB)
Dunn (MELB)

16. Pattison (satisfied)
-could of had:
Rosa (WC)
Van Berlo (ADE)

20. Polo (satisfied)
-could of had:
Rosa (WC)
Van Berlo (ADE)

36. McGuane (satisfied)
-could of had:
Sherman (BRI)
Newton (MELB)
Lecras (WC)

Delisted: Graham, Limbach
-could of had:
Knights (ADEL)

It was a alright draft for what was on offer, I'm satisfied with 4 of the players we drafted. Hurt us not getting Franklin and would of been nice getting Dunn, Van Berlo or Rosa.

2005 Draft:

9. Oakley-Nicholls: (BAD PICK!)
-could of had:
Clark
Higgins
Jones
Hurn
Birchall
Varcoe
Douglas

24. Hughes (satisfied) I think he'll do well...

40. Casserly
Swallow would of been nice!

Look in this draft we managed to get Hughes but stuffed up badly with O-N IMO. Casserly I don't think will make it either, just my opinion from watching a couple Coburg games, we'll see. Not that great a draft!

2006 Draft:

I can't really start commenting about this draft too early I do think though we drafted well! I mean Riewoldt looks promising, Edwards has been great and Connors was a steal! Looking forward to Peterson coming back and playing for Coburg to see how he goes. Collins is the other one no clue on how he's been.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE:

The problem with our drafting hasn't really been with our late picks as much I feel its been more the early picks (Not getting Franklin, Meyer, O-N). We'd be so much better a team right now if we had drafted Franklin and got lets say Clark or Hurn instead of O-N.
Otherwise some of our later pick-ups are alright (Edwards, McGuane, Hughes, Connors) they look to be alright! We need a draft though we're we pick up 8 or 9 young players at once. I mean in the last 2 drafts we've only picked up 7 players thats simple not enough for a building up young team.
WE need to delist and clean up our list at the end of this year BIG TIME! Hartigan, Hall, P. Bowden, White, Moore, Knobel, Kingsley and try trading Schultz, Krakouer, Tivendale, maybe even Peddifer and Meyer. That will clear about 10 or so players from our list so we can DRAFT, DRAFT, DRAFT. Get ride of this mediocrity! I mean a second spoon in 4 years:thumbsdown:
I must comment on our rookies as well, Terry's done well there King was a great pick, as is Thursfield. I reckon promote Howat and give him at least another year to see if his skills can be improved. This year we have to use the rookie system to our full advantage get another 3 or 4 rookies!

CARN TIGERS!

Casserly will be good. Because he can kick and is a smart runner. However these Hamstring injuries are a big problem for him at the moment. I hope he can stop getting injured everytime he gets close to a senior game!

Well we extended his contract like we do with everyone else so I hope you're right.

Just on recruiting Franklin, how do you think Franklin would have gone at Richmond in a forward line that is dominated by Richo?

Because it is the same problem that our younger tall forwards have faced since they were selected. Schulz struggles to get near it in games when Richo is playing. Remember the 6 goal game was achieved when Richo was out. Same with Jack and Cleve. Cleve had his best game against the WCE because Richo was playing away from the forward line that day and both he and Schulz combined for at least 7 scoring opportunities kicked 3.4 between them.

This is not a criticism of the big fella in Richo but merely pointing out that Franklin has shined because he is the focus of the Hawks forward line at present. Our youngsters have also looked good when Richo is not there to dominate the F50.

This is why I think richo should be playing down back.

in the original post it says that we need to draft alot of young kids and clean out our list but mate there is nothing in this years draft, that would be pointless - delisting a semi experienced, bulked up hartigan for a not experienced not bulked up equvilent to hartigan and same can be said for p bowden and those sorts. a mass culling would be a pointless excercise IMO

:)I love the optimism of some of my fellow Tigers fans.

For over 10 weeks now I have been listening to the masses banging on about Schulz having one of his "better games" against the West Coast when Richo played down back.

FFS he had seven kicks and missed four of the easiest goals possible in a 23 point margin.

If failing to capitalise on your handful opportunities when shooting from 20 metres out constitutes a good game, we know we need to offload him now.

One of his "better games". Give me a break!

Drafting is not sop much the problem as player development is, that is where the true heart of Richmonds problems lie. To hear the garbage spilt about protecting Deledio from tags at the start of the year was a disgrace, don't sugar coat the players thrown them at the game and develop some grunt.

Once the K.Jhonsons and Tivendales of the list are gone the club will be better, also as much as it pains me to say it I don't think there is a place for the 'Cho anymore. He is a legend and still has some good football left in him but two more years of him dominating our forward line means two more years his replacement is not getting full development. The club will not be pushing for finals in that time.

Richo I think you are great and respect and appreciate what you have done for the club however IMHO the best thing for him and the club is a trade to a club like the Dogs who are on the cusp of a GF apperance.

Richo for Minson and their third rounder.

Think your a bit tough on P.Bowden. His 1st year at the club, he was quite good and showed a bit of talent. Unfortunately for him this year, he has been injured and the form hasnt been there. I would keep him for another year.
