I will preface by saying i think sos has done a fantastic job. He came in with a clear plan and executed beyond belief.

Reading the press release it is clear that having sons at the club was putting unwanted pressure on other staff members. Whether the pressure is factual or perceived doesnt really matter, but it has been enough to cause friction and probably the breaking down on role boundaries.

Given SOS is out of contract, it is probably the cleanest solution.

Would i like things to work out differently? Sure.

It can't be stated enough, SOS has transformed this club from a state of abject failure to a team of promising, talented and competitive people.

He's given all supporters hope for what comes ahead.

He's undisputedly a key pillar of whatever this club does over the next decade.

Most innovative list manager in the industry and a massive let down that he has not been renewed to do it until we created a dynasty.
This is bad timing and why Liddle wants to all of a sudden make the story be about two sons being on list when one of them has been here four seasons is interesting to say the least.
Up to Liddle now to make sure we have someone that continues the strategy and does not **** up the great ground work done that has not been completed...

I get the whole difficult situation thing with SOS having sons at the club. I get him leaving because of it.

What I don’t accept for one minute is the way this has all been handled and the shameless interference in list management by parties that had no business being involved.

Now because of it we need a new President and a new List Manager that can stare down a CEO that thinks he is the club and not just paid employee.

That release is absolute amateur hour. Confirms he was not offered a contract, denying him the dignity of exiting on his terms, doesn't address the well publicised issues, unecessarily draws Jack and Ben into it, questions his impartiality, and gives him a backhander on the way out stating he 'helped' put the list together.

What a poor poor press release for someone who has done so much for our club both as an ex-player, Carlton legend and list manager.

It was almost a generic farewell release.

Sos has done so much for this club and completely transformed the club in 4 years. He brought hope back for the fans after almost 20 years of failure.

They could have done a lot more. Very disappointed

Every off season we just knew that the club was in good hands, even if the season before proved less than fruitful. We would take small and sometimes large steps towards success. That success was finally realised in embryo in the second half of 2019 as the wins came think and fast and we were on relative finals pace. For this recent episode in history, we thank you SOS.

Furthermore, we thank you for the 300+ games of excellence on the field. Listened to an episode of “You cannot be serious” recently where Sam, Mike and Don had Jason Dunstall on for an in depth if not overly serious interview. Dunstall said SOS was easily his toughest opponent. The ultimate competitor he said. This carried into his future role in list management as he utilised the rules to gain advantage over his adversary.

Thanks SOS, you are a Carlton treasure.

What a disgrace. Terrible how the club have handled this.

SOS has done an amazing job with the list. When we look back on this rebuild in the future SOS will go down as the man who righted the ship and brought Carlton back from the brink.

Club can spin it whatever way they want, but SOS leaving is not in the best interest of the club.

The President should have written that release and got some help from a professional writer since he is obviously out of his depth and kept that rat from Punt road out of it. Liddle's efforts in the release are an embarrassment to our Club and an indictment on his character, and lack of leadership credentials.

Thanks for doing the hard yards SOS - very few understand how hard they were and how well you did it for Carlton.

This is what we have been missing for so long and love or hate the Pies you cannot refute the harmony Eddie McGuire brings in his role which in turn leads to on field success.

We have been seriously behind the 8 ball in this regard for over 2 decades now and now SOS has walked because of an ego driven Liddle throwing punches at shadows.

Haha, cmon man....I could argue easily his decisions and ability to control the narrative cost them at least 1 if not 2 premierships with the youngest GF winning team since Melbourne in the late 50’s

For those who think it’s ok that he continues in a role where he is ultimately responsible to manage the contracts and list positions where his kin are on the list, you are delusional,
regardless of how good a job he has done. It’s just not possible. This is a professional sport with multi million dollar contracts involved and performance is critical regardless of who your dad and grandad is. This is not the local footy club and even then can you imagine the parents of kids in a team where a dad is the team selector at the local level? which SOS basically is - the whinging would be unreal and that’s what happens .... now do that in the AFL.... You see the picture.

For those who say the press release was poorly worded you’re clutching at straws. what did you expect? It was worded as it should have been given the scenario.

if his name was not Steve Silvagni but Joe Blogs and he had two sons on the list called Billy and Timmy Blogs...this would be a non event... all of us would be saying Timmy and Billy only got a call up because of who their dad is.

End of story... let’s celebrate what he has done as a player and administrator and move on.

Press statement is a bloody joke, still had another year until he was going to finish up in what can only be described as simply the greatest list challenge a list manager has ever had in front of them.
Shattered for him with the way it has gone down and the way it has ended, for all the great ground the club has made since the rebuild the simple fact is if it wasn’t for this guys list genius we would not be anywhere near where we stand today...#GOAT
