Ok, For alot people this is the 3 weeks of doom for Dreamteam. We may like to call it the *FMDT* Stage of the year... But its changed this year. You only have to field your best 18 Players. It seams easy but in Round 13 we will have teams like the Pies, Dons, Crows, Gold coast and Carlton the Relivent DT teams, For Example this is my list of round 13 bye players i have to work on!

Dyson Heppel
Brendon Goddard
Dane Swan
Scott Pendlebury
Sam Dwyer
Jobe Watson
Kommer
Garry Ablett
Jaeger O'Meara
Travis Cloke
Brent Macafffer
Total 11/30
This means i have to Play all my other Rookie exept 1. So im looking to Offload Kommer and Caff to round 12 Bye players.
Also, With only 19 to pick its going to be very hard is 2/3 dont get a game!

Ok, Continue. If we do already have a bye thread please send me to it! Thanks

From that list, ill be trading Omeara, Dwyer, Mccaffer and hopefully Kommer out of my team before the round 13 bye. Whether or not i downgrade to other round 13 rookies remains to be seen. Either way, with 2 trades per week all season ill be sideways trading wherever possible to avoid zeros during the MBR's, and then go back to upgrading my team from round 14 onwards.

I have only just started looking into the bye rounds and seeing how I'm looking. At the moment I don't think I'm in too much trouble.

22 players for round 11
22 players for round 12
17 for round 13

That is assuming that all my players are still playing (Sinclair, Blicavs unlikely). Round 13 is going to be a struggle but I will most likely start looking at whether I can arrange my trades to suit the byes rather than bring in unwanted players just because of their bye round.

Does anyone know if the players have to be on the field to score during these rounds? I would assume they will which will mean having 3 of my rucks from round 12 bye is pointless during the other byes.

For anyone looking at their team and trying to sort out bye rounds, download Footynerd. Makes things a lot easier.

Please explaiin how you have 61 "availabilities" or are you including some trades/potential trades?

Looking at my team, am like everyone else too front-loaded in round 11 byes which absolutely sucks, because even if before round 11 you trade out a Stevenson/Goodes/Pittard/Neade/Mayes or whoever, you are trading to a future bye anyway.

Damn it, why couldnt the first 6 byes be a bunch of DT irrelevant teams, or even a team like Essendon or Collingwood with a few premiums you can rest but no real mid-season rookies to have to bring in/out.

Not including trades or anything, I just did a quick count up and must have missed one. With a change of trades (not bye based trades) it's now looking like this:

Round 11 - I have 19 players available that have the bye in rounds 12/13
Round 12 - I have 23 players available that have the bye in rounds 11/13
Round 13 - I have 18 players available that have the bye in rounds 11/12

As an aside, the best way to go about the byes IMO is not to worry about what you have now, but setting up your team so that you have targets to trade to in round 12 and 13, after players have had their byes, and players with round 12 and 13 byes that you will definately want to use as trade-outs on their bye weeks.

In round 12 you want to be getting round 11 byes into your side, either as downgrade or upgrade options. Obviously it is very difficult to plan downgrades in advance, so you just have to get lucky, but having a rough list of the kind of players you want to trade to helps

For example, the round 11 byes are Hawthorn, Port, WB, BL, Richmond and Fremantle, so having a list of players you may potentially want to trade to in rounds 12 and 13 is a big help. From that list for example, some good upgrades might include

- Birchall
- S.Mitchell
- Buddy
- Boyd
- Cotch etc...

If you want to plan, perhaps go to Scotland as your next backline premium rather then Birchall etc.. if you are worried about bye strategy.

For round 13, you can add in North, WCE, St.K, Geelong, Sydney and Melbourne players to draft in since they have had their bye(obviously a worse list for DT purposes)

For trade outs, if you get Gawn this week rather then trade him out the moment he peaks (say he peaks round 9 for example) hold for two more weeks and use him as a known tradeout target.

In my opinion, too many people are focused on the now rather then the future (i.e will trading Gibbs ruin my bye structure).

Its a bit of a 1:30am ramble but cliffnotes

Think of the future trades, not the current trades to set up your byes.

your best 18 players need to be onfield...

BYE ROUNDS - 'Best 18' Scoring - to better-reflect the actual competition, during the multi-bye Rounds 11, 12 and 13, you'll score from your best 18 players only in any position, from your selected, on-field Starting 22. You'll still need to ensure that your best available players are in your starting 22 line-up.

Ok, now that I know that the players have to be named on the field I'm looking at:

Round 11 - 18 players. Dwyer, Macaffer, Blicav/Sinclair need to be playing. Will probably need to look into bringing in a round 11 player soon.

Round 12 - 20.

Round 13 - 17.

It's still too far out to know how we will go over the bye rounds but I'm happy that I'm not too far off the mark at the moment.

The bye rounds of possible downgrade options coming up:

Lonergan (GC) - Round 13
Docherty - Round 11
Ben Kennedy - Round 13
Vlaustin - Round 11
Laird - Round 13

I'm honestly not going to worry about them at all. Obviously my team will change a bit before the first round of byes but at the moment i'm looking at:
Rd 11 - 17 players available
Rd 12 - 22 players available
Rd 13 - 21 players available

I'm just going to ignore them and keep trading the way I want to trade.

A few notes I made this morning. I'm going to keep the byes in mind, but not ruin my team for them. I've assumed that Rowe and Blicavs wouldn't be playing:

Donuts at r7
11: 3d, 1m, 1r, 1f = 16 playin 2 donuts
12: 0d, 1m, 1r, 1f = 19 playing 0 dnuts
13: 1d, 2m, 0r, 0f = 19 playin 0 dnts

Bye notes:
- trade Stevenson or goodes for r12 rook (unlikely)
- ok to get rid of moloney/wines before byes
- ok to get r13 rook r/f in fwds
- keep crouch
- get forward/mid dpp link
- r11/13 ruck/fwd ideal, but unlikely

Just looking at my dt for the byes now.

We have 8 trades (not including this week) before the byes hit if i'm not mistaken.
Being modest that's four upgrades at least. I'm not going to focu at all on WHICH rookies to keep etc because they're all ****ing round 11 anyway which is a massive annoyance.

I've decided i definitely need 2 premiums with a rnd 12 bye and i need another 2 from either rnd 11 or rnd 12.

Luckily some of the premiums i had my eyes on who are at basement price fit into that quite nicely.

Rnd 8 trades: Pick up Cotchin/Boyd next week at his base price.
Rnd 9 trades: Franklin has a BE of 150 odd and hopefully he wont scratch 100 againsst the Swans so he'll be prime this round i'm hoping
Rnd 10 tades: should be enough to have Nic Nat at pretty much basement price
Rnd 11 trades: I'll be looking to pick up Scooter or Stevie J here, annoying that they have the bye the week after but you have to do it.

Then Rnd 12 trades: obviously pick any 2 with round 11 byes, (Boyd/Cotchin Lewis, Barlow, Cornes, Fyfe)
Then Rnd 13 trades: obviously pick any two with rnd 11 or 12 byes (Boyd/Cotchin, Lewis, Barlow, Cornes, Fyfe, Scooter/SJ, Jelwood, JPK, Harbey?, Wellingham? Enright?)

I've decided to enter full tank mode in round 13

I plan to have a midfield consisting off Ablett Swan Watson Pendlebury Dangerfield Murphy with Stanton a chance.

Danny Stanley a chance to enter in the backline if he continues his good scores.

Cloke a good chance for the forward line.

I should win easy in round 11 and 12.

With a look at my bye rounds, this is what I'm looking at:

11: 19 playing
12: 19 playing
13: 20 playing

Obviously I will change this before the byes with trades each week, but counting that up now.. I'm not too bothered anymore :thumbsu:

Of course, this is assuming that guys like Blicavs/Daw are still in the side. Have accounted for Frosty.
