Nine Network Sport boss Steve Crawley was quoted this morning in The Australian, on BBL and Michael Slater:

“I reckon Slats (Michael Slater) and Heals (Ian Healy) and Warnie would eat them for breakfast,” Crawley said. “What they’re all doing is entirely different. You can’t call a Test match like you call Perth versus Hobart. Slats is the most exciting caller in cricket. Those guys on Ten aren’t calling the moment. They have a caller there with them. They do the extra commentary. Slats will lead a commentary team. I’d back Michael Slater against anyone, in any form of cricket, anywhere in the world, as the leader of the pack.”

I'll have whatever he's smoking.

I'm sure there must be a psychological term for such a complete and utter lack of self-awareness. I'll just go consult my DSM-IV.

I'm finding, especially this year, the 10 commentary pretty unbearable.
I don't watch much BBL, but I would say they have shown None how to do terrible commentary. The little bits I've seen have been like having three Michael Slaters in the box. And the cross-promotion .... just, wow. I understand ten have no viewers and so they have to cross-promote the **** out of everything in their one slot where they get viewers, but ffs, that is seriously out of control.

It was enjoyable hearing arselicker Slater do a backflip this afternoon. This morning him and Mr Facelift were bagging the shit out of the selectors for going with Burns ahead of SMarsh.
Well arselicker nearly fell over himself doing a backflip after Burns got his century.

Mr Facelift?

I think the 10 commentators do pretty well especially having to do it for 3 hours straight. You can understand them going off track occasionally.
Could you imagine the complaints if we had to put up with Slater, Healy and Brayshaw 3 hours straight. They can go off topic 5 minutes into a 30 minute stint

I ended up leaving early today, my bad back got sore and the West Indies were clearly bowling for mistakes/runouts.

I had to laugh when I got home, it took 5 balls to notice the new cherry had been taken, one of the commentators (Warne?) says "what game are we watching?!"

Then 2-3 balls later Khawaja smashes one to Samuel, he drops it... and Nicholas had no idea.

WTF? What are you watching indeed...

They tarnish the legacy of what Richie created more every time I watch them. I'm so grateful for digitial radio that allows me to listen to Grandstand with it not-too-badly synced with the tv.

They are more than tarnishing it - they are actively trashing it.

I refuse to listen to the idiots any more. I have had enough of them.

Are you talking to me?

It's Mike.
Max: Lovely bowling action Simon O’Donnell… just take a look as he moves in now… good grip on the ball, thumb underneath, forefinger and middle finger together on top. Starts his run up left foot first, closely followed by the right, then the left foot again, then the right, then the left and the right and the left and the right again in pretty quick succession. Good side on action, reaches for the heavens with that front arm, looking over the left shoulder the spot he wants to hit on the pitch
Bill: It’s called bowling Max, you dickhead
