I like the idea. Clutter on guernseys is fixed by redesigning the back - don't forget the Hawks had a completely blank back up until a few years ago, in contrast to their use as an example as to why it wouldn't work. It's not hard to figure out a way to incorporate BBFFC etc - surely a badge on the front is better than 4-5 letters blurred by the bulge of the GPS pocket...?

Can't see the names? You can't see anyrhing else from the fence either, so what's the issue? On tv it's easy...

I think it's pointless since players already have allocated numbers, if the numbers were based on positions then the idea would have some merit.

why not for the 2014 season they introduce names on NAB Cup jumpers as trial, then assess how they like it for the 2015 AFL premiership season.

GWS wants names.

They'd probably just do what they did with cricket way back...I recall Sri Lankan bowler Wijegunawardene wearing a shirt with his first name on the back - Kapila.

Put the names on. Just make it look good (putting out a challenge, considering the history of clash jumpers over the years...)...

Whatever Demetriou proposes as a fleeting idea, whether it's this or your club moving to a non-finals accredited ground last minute, will always end up happening. Remember that.

And you still beat them. Truly one of the best games of 2013, always a joy to see the Cats lose

The Weapon having a parma in the direct vicinity two hours before the game is something the AFL must investigate.

Those piercing eyes made everyone in the room sit up and take notice.

In that series, pretty much all of the Sri Lankan players, and many of the Paki's, had their first names on the back. Sanath, Hashan, Aravinda, even Ravi, as opposed to the Jayasuriya, Tillekeratne, De Silva and Ratnayake that would be used from that series on.

That actually has something to do with how their names are arranged in their cultures. Unlike the European first name/surname, other regions actually use the name that comes first as the surname in european situtions as it is more important than the last name. That is why if you ever work somewhere that you have to get peoples names you have to ask for their last name rather than surname as they may not actually have a surname as we know it and as such do not know what the word surname means.

Give-us-a-hand Tillikaratne!
