So are we barracking for Brisbane or Adelaide? Lions winning is better for mine because win and we're in...

Yeah Brisbane for sure. If we'd won round 1 it wouldn't matter who looses

Brisbane for sure. I can't believe we have to play Adelaide in Darwin though. I reckon we'll be cooked for that both during the game and the round after.
The good news is that the other two teams we still have to play are GWS and Freo...

I understand that women have better endurance then men though.

Actually I think it might be more that women have better personalities then men on the whole, and they are more aquiline so can go further in marathon swimming from US to Cuba covered in whale blubber. I read somewhere that women are better at multitasking. Are any of these attributes likely to be helpful?

Annoying that the start time is 5.05pm. I get that it's part of a double header but this is the kind of scheduling that makes it seem like AFLW is the novelty and the men's game is the 'real stuff'.

Anyway. There's a cool podcast called This AFL Life which talks (at least at the moment) exclusively about AFLW. Well worth a listen, check it out here

If you enjoy give them a rating too, helps more people find it. I have no affiliation, just keen to support.

Tell me about it. I really wanted to go to this, but it's also in bloody Blacktown, which for those unfamiliar with Sydney is over an hour away from the city in Friday afternoon peak traffic. No chance.

And not even a chance to tune in on TV until the second quarter (or even half) for a lot of people.

I had a game out there one time, got put up in a hotel close by. I was under the impression I'd be able to pick up a Poweraide and some muesli bars or something from around there like i usually would ... "Close by the ground" was in the middle of an industrial estate, not a 7-11 to be seen ... was absolutely filthy, had to deal with the Lemon-Lime powder mix like a hung over uni student.

What I thought might have been a bit of a whinge (Honestly, I should have known better) was a fantastic article by Daisy Pearce in today's Age:

Daisy Pearce column: Being an AFLW marquee player is a double-edged sword

Fundamentally, I think it's good that there is level of scrutiny because it suggests that we are being taken seriously. If our poor performances were ignored, or if obvious deficiencies in the game style across AFLW were not highlighted, would that not mean that less is expected of us because we are female? That the world is setting us a lower bar?

However, there needs to be an understanding that AFLW is in the embryonic stages. The goal is to become a fully professional competition, but we are not there yet.

Game day. Hopefully the AFL app has some kind of audio going because otherwise I'll miss the first quarter and a bit going home.

Storms and rain predicted in Sydney apparently. Will be a real scrap I expect.
Thanks d33my

I've made you your very own game day thread and everything

Poor first quarter.
0.1.1 - 2.1.13

Girls don't seem to know how to play in the wet.
Reminds me of the mens team.

This officiating is farcical.
Coupled with the bad skills in the wet & pretty bad commentating and this game is way too frustrating.
