A modern spy thriller. Michael Fassbender is in the lead role, supported by Jeffrey Wright, Jodie Turner-Smith, Katherine Waterston and Richard Gere. The first two episodes are very good. While you're waiting for the other episodes to be released weekly you can binge The Bureau, the excellent French show that it is based on.

I wondered why Gere was out promoting

As far as I can tell his little monologue about secret agents having to be a little crazy is accurate.

Ignore the title of this video. The guy mostly talks about what the CIA looks for when recruiting a spy, and the techniques they are taught.

Interested in what fans of The Bureau think of this.

There were a few on here who watched the series from memory. One of my all-time favourites

They've stuck pretty close to the main storyline of season 1, updated slightly to fit the current geopolitical climate.

Fassbender's Malotru is probably the biggest point of difference. Not necessarily in a bad way but I feel less for his character than I did for Kassovitz at the same point.

I've got The Bureau as a top-5 all-time show, and I don't think The Agency is ever going to come close to those heights (if just because of how carbon copy it has been so far). But it is ridiculously well made with a stacked cast...having Jodie Turner-Smith, Katherine Waterston and John Magaro in supporting roles is wild.

Getting that second season is huge, and hopefully more after that. Would love to see it grow and become its own thing.

It's definitely worth watching but I much prefer The Bureau.

The show is about the characters. Fassbender as Martian is good but Kassovitz as Malotru is better. I'm not feeling anything for the Jodie Turner-Smith character. It's a fairly one dimensional performance and there's little chemistry compared to Nadia and Malotru. Jeffrey Wright is missing the humour of Henri Duflot. Saura Lightfoot-Leon is ok as the Marina Loiseau copy.

It's well written though closely based on the original and there's a little more action. But it feels like an expensively produced cover band.

Pretty much agree with this. Malatrou was more believable in his human frailty.

The Bureau would be top 5 or 10 of all time for me so pretty hard to live up too. Especially when watching essentially a remake.

I’m enjoying it, but it probably needs to swerve off somewhere and forge its own identity.
