I think you're way off. I don't know if you've seen any of her work in her area of expertise (soccer), but I get the impression that she's... well, you know, a professional journalist. There aren't many of them in sport in this country. To put it simply, there's really no room for her to respond in that context, and I think it's been made clear privately that she wasn't happy (and rightly so). Like I said, patronising much?
As to her qualifications as a journo, look at what you get on the boundary in AFL coverage- "hey Bazza, is it raining down there?"
