  1. Force Melbourne and Footscray to merge to create Melbourne Bulldogs and base them at Whitten oval.
  2. Force Hawthorn to relocate to Tasmania.
  3. Force North to relocate to Western Sydney.
  4. Promote Southport Sharks to the AFL.
16 team comp with teams in every state.....perfect.

You're dreaming mate. Next year the CBF is gone, no GC money and 5000 neutral supporters that bought North memberships are gone. That's a loss of $3million in revenue per year. Then add another half a million loss for the extra salary cap rise and North is finished.

You can't force any club move. If you force them, they'll threaten to leave the comp.

If the AFL were forcing Essendon to move I'd rather they leave the AFL and join the VFL.

You really are Stupid... We have new Sponsors, aren't they still reviewing the CBF at the END of the Year?

Can you provide concrete facts that we have 5k neutrol supporters?

There is really no use explaing to a idiot but for the other posters, we have a busines plan in place to wipe our Debt.

West Sydney St's has a nice ring to it, might even get you a second Flag, you wont get one here anytime soon.

North and the Bulldogs are not core AFL teams. They are dispensible. Hawks can go to Tassie, no probs, but still play a few games at the G. Would anyone notice?

Southport Saints works. Roo would love it!

Dees - can't see a future if they don't access MCC. Just fold.

Harsh, but fair

You're all idiots. We all know the kangaroos will fold now that they passed up on the merger. FACT!
Who were we supposed to merge with? im sure it was a Relocation that we REJECTED.

what about the territories? every part of the country should be represented if you want a truely national competition ... but then again this topic had nothing really to do with a national competition and everything to do with trying to shit on some teams you don't like.

Has a nice sound to it. I personally like the idea of the Melbourne Bulldogs.

The soul of your club would be consumed by Melbourne.
You'll probably end up with a bulldog on top of the Melbourne jumper, and thats at that will remain of your club.

what do your fellow inmates think?

speaking as a former tasmanian, a forced relocation that p***es off the original supporters is going to seem to the island state like they have a side that doesn't really want to be there which would create hostility.
Anyway, why should there be other states with original teams and Tasmania ends up with the blunt end of the stick like Brisbane and Sydney did.
Why should a state with a long footballing history have a relocated team and NOT their "own" original side?

  1. Force North to relocate to Western Sydney.
2 relocated Melbourne sides in Sydney would be an unmitigated disaster.

It would only reinforce perceptions that the game is still primarily a Victorian competition. 1 relocated side is ok as it adds to the local rivalry and gives another reason to support one side over the other.

It must be hard living in a caravan with your 8 children (all to different fathers) parked on the side of the hume highway, may we all say a prayer for nexus helen and hope that her standard of living improves very soon:thumbsu:;)

FORCE A good word to describe the conception of most of your 8 children :)

You're all idiots. We all know the kangaroos will fold now that they passed up on the merger. FACT!

Perhaps Duckfan he's referring to the failed merger of North and Fitzroy at end of '96, which all the other Melb clubs went ballistic about because North had just won the flag!

And then we all know what happened to Fitzroy.:)

The two new teams + Tassie do open the way for relocations, but honestly the whole R word and 'merger' will only happen if a team is forced to the wall, like South and Fitzroy.

If it does happen, plebs like us have no say whatsoever, if its already a done deal. Hawks fans were able to avoid the proposed Melbourne-Hawks merger.

No team will be forced to relocate or merge by the AFL, only by their club's insolvency. How would you feel Nexus Helen if your Saints were forced to move to WS?

So what if there's 10 Victorian teams, they all have their part in the AFL.
Less Victorian teams would be ideal, but I'd certainly feel for them. Imagine if your team relocated, our team nearly did.
I guess if any teams were going to relocate it be in either Tasmania or Canberra.
