The Big Coney Island Compendium of Milestones Volume Four New

Good [INSERT TIME OF THE DAY] Sweet, I trust this post finds you.

It takes a lot for me to extricate myself from my hammock while on leave so getting off my arse is a big thing, and celebrating my teammates is such a big thing. The cricket being rained upon from a great height also helps, as does a full bladder. Going to the fridge. Making a sammich. Taking the dog for a walk. My watch nagging me that I haven't stood up in an hour. But I digress...

In the past season or so the Coney Island Warriors have fond ourselves in a situation where multiple milestones have fallen on the same match. There was the initial compendium at the end of last season that celebrated 400 games worth of milestones from Piggy Smalls The Filth Wizard & toxic, followed by a second iteration at the beginning of this season worth 600 games featuring Freofalcon TheInjuryFactory & a double-dipping Piggy, and a few weeks later Filthy returned with Reginald Perrin for a third bite of the multi-milestone cherry which acknowledged another 600 games. That's 1600 games played by six different Wazzas, and today we add another 200. Some would say that a multi-milestone thread is a path of least resistance when it comes to acknowledging the accomplishments of such fine outstanding individuals. However in each of the weeks where I have rolled the compendiums out the Warriors have saluted on the qooty field, and given we're in a preliminary final against a team that has the wood over us I say that any advantage is worth... well, taking advantage of.

And so we come to the gentlemen for whom we are gathered today. One is an absolute gun of both the club and the league who achieves something significant this week, and the other is a rising star who celebrates the first of many milestones in what will be distinguished career. Let's take a look at them shall we?

To many, the Coney Island Warriors are synonymous with their Bay roots. Brash, antagonistic, likes a beer and a swear. But there is a lot more to us than that. There is calmness and reason and analysis and quirky pop culture references and flavoured milk. So much flavoured milk. And the very personification of this is FootyGuy13. Ever since he joined the Warriors as a rookie in season 30, Guy has provided a unique and refreshing counterpoint to the club in a variety of ways, many of which go unnoticed across the rest of the SFA but are absolutely cherished within the four walls of Van Cortlandt Park. From embracing the history of the club from the get go (his '20 Greatest Warriors Of All Time' thread is still considered a masterpiece), to his patented voting methodology, his many seasons as the Vice Captain & as part of the LG of the club, his metronomic match thread posting (20 a week or gtfo), his auditing of the Frankston Rover Medal votes, his introducing us to such cultural icons as the Coney Island Ski Club... the list goes on and on.

In recent seasons it's also been awesome to see Guy extend his reach across the league, from his work in the simming & match posting team to his Mobbs predictions and most recently assuming the captaincy of the Fulminia Qricket Club (go Rays!). I've said many times that Guy is an Admin-in-waiting, and I honestly believe that he would do a sensational job at running the league.

But enough about the past and the future, we're here because of the present. And tomorrow Guy plays his 150th game, and in doing so becomes the 19th person to earn Life Membership of the Coney Island Warriors. So to commemorate the occasion, I have commissioned a line of flavoured milk.

The other half of this week's binary milestone belongs to one of the rising starts of the SFA. Now in his third season, Ocha905 has quickly established himself as a favourite both at Coney Island and across the league. On the field he's had a steady start before coming into his own as ruck rover, the position at the Warriors which had given Sweet the previous two Mobbs Medallists. Off the field he brings his affable nature, born of both Song Contest success and the down to earth nature that comes from being a North Melbourne supporter. Like FootyGuy13, the sky's the limit for our Novocastrian friend and this week he achieves what I suspect will be the first of many milestones.

Here's how Ocha's career has stacked up thus far:

Games: 49*
Hitouts: 0
Kicks: 474
Marks: 95
Handballs: 424
Tackles: 174
Frees For: 88
Frees Against: 37
Goals: 33
Behinds: 25
Disposals: 898
Dream Team Points: 3451
Mobbs Medal Votes:
some
Frankston Rover Medal Votes: 49
Song Contest Wins: Many

Debut: Coney Island Warriors - Season 36, Round 1
Highest HitOuts: 0 - x49 occasions
Highest Kicks: 16 - x4 occasions
Highest Marks: 9 - Season 36, Round 09 - Baghdad Bombers vs. (Coney Island Warriors)
Highest Handballs: 20 - Season 36, Round EF - (Coney Island Warriors) vs. Mount Buller Demons
Highest Tackles: 12 - x2 occasions
Highest Disposals: 30 - Season 36, Round EF - (Coney Island Warriors) vs. Mount Buller Demons
20+ Disposals: x22 occasions
Highest DreamTeam Points: 111 - x2 occasions
100+ DreamTeam Points: x8 occasions
Highest Goals: 3 - x2 occasions

Please join me Sweet in giving a warm mazel tov to one of our brightest young talents as Ocha905 hits the half ton. Book 'em Ocha, murder one!

Life member. Historian. Simmer. Vice Captain. Chose us, much to the dismay of Headless.

Congratulations FootyGuy13 on an outstanding Qooty career to date, and on your deserved life membership at our amazing club and thank you for your invaluable contributions to the club behind the scenes.

Proud of you.

Your Qooty Dad, TiF.

Genuinely still haven't recovered, but have admired FG13's career from a distance. Perfect fit at the Warriors, and doing great things.
