Yeah we'd all love Gini to stay, sadly it doesn't look like it's gonna happen.

I'll add my praise to the great performance last night, Klopp tore Rodgers a new one. As dominant as the 4-0 on Boxing Day despite 5-6 of our starting XI missing.

With a few to Atalanta, it's seriously risky to play Matip more than once a week but can we really go with Fab and R.Williams? I'd try to avoid playing Milner as well, remember he got a couple of hammy injuries late last season.

It seems he wants four years and we will only offer three. I might be tempted just to give him four.

Barcelona not looking like the place to be either and the manager that wants him won't be there too much longer either. So that bodes well in bringing back Gini.

Listening to the blood red poddy apparently his nee contract offer has been bumped from 80k/week to 110k/week. Still not enough IMO with him being available on a free.

I reckon we need to sit down with him and just get it done. Whatever it takes. Milner will be 36 next season.

I'd offer 3 years, 120k a week. If that doesn't get it done, then he's already got his head turned.

Would really suck if Gini went to a PL rival.

Wouldn't happen. It is Barca that is the problem. Koeman wants him and Gini has experience playing for him with the Dutch national team.

Gini leaving for free rather than getting him re-signed will cost us dearly. We'll have to spend a large amount to replace him in the summer.

We are already probably in the market for a CB as well in Jan.

I think we'll see minimal rotation against Atalanta. Maybe one of Fab/Matip rested for Rhys Williams (if he's fit). I think Jurgen will rotate against Brighton.

More injuries. Glatzel off at half time in the U23s as a precaution after a possible ankle injury. Then Joe Hardy was subbed on late in the game, copped a tackle to the leg and went off on a stretcher after being on for only a moment.
Update on this: Both are out for several weeks with ankle ligament damage. Really harsh on Glatzel considering he just got back from an ACL.

I figured Thiago was his replacement but I'd also expect Jones to get more and more minutes too.

I'm also factoring in that Grujic will be sold and that Milner might not last forever. As well as Fabinho being moved out of midfield to CB. Also Ox/Keita keep getting injured.

As for Jones, I always considered him Lallana's replacement from within, I was saying he should have got more senior minutes (even ahead of Lallana) last season because he was wasting his time in the U23s, levels above everyone.

I have never understood this about transfers. A $40m transfer fee for a player over 4 years = $200,000/w. Then + wages on top.

Just pay the man. He is the player we need and there are zero transfer fees.

Grujic is a non factor as he has never really played for us so doesnt need replacing as he doesnt play. Lallana played a little bit but not a heap in the last two years. Jones will easily play more than him so will cover his minutes and then some.

I think we will need replacements eventually but say we dont buy a CM next summer and Gini walks I still think a midfield group of Fabinho, Henderson, Thiago, Ox, Keita, Jones and Milner would be good for another season.

Having said all that.... please buy Szoboszlai Liverpool, please!

By the time Leicester were so comprehensively outplayed in and out of possession by Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, the transition game of the hosts still irresistible despite missing six starters, the club’s analytics department were being credited for a similarly impressive triumph in an altogether different sport.
