We deserve to be 2-0 down, been awful. Hardly surprising given the side we've put out and Atalanta are a good side - that 5-0 win a few weeks back was incredible really.

Not ideal given we will now have to roll out close to our best XI available in the last 2 games.

Gone from potentially securing advancing with 2 games left to two teams within 2 points of us. Obviously still in a great position but would have been nice to not have to risk key players in the final 2 games.

Will mean we need to play first xi in those games to secure passage.

We do things the hard way

Yep and get 3 days to Brighton, 4 days to Ajax and 4 days to Wolves. Hopefully get a few back.

First time since the big injuries to our defenders have our replacements being really exposed. Both Williams were really poor.

I would rather have seen Taki start instead of Origi.

Everyone was poor. No spark, really flat.

We will bounce back im sure.

We can still confirm progress with a won over Ajax at Anfield. Then we can run out the reserves at Mland.

Correct. It is nowhere near panic station.
  • Only 5 first team starters lined up tonight
  • One of those recovered from COVID only days ago
  • 3 of the back 4 were playing their first handful of games for Liverpool - very inexperienced back 4.
  • Midfield was really bland from a creative point of view and were also spending too much energy protecting the back 4
  • Origi completely disrupts the front 3
It is hard to know what Klopp was doing? Injuries have forced his hand with the back 4 and midfield but why disrupt the front 3 as well?

There was way too much change.

Yeah i thought Klopps team selection was poor. I get we needed to rest players and rotate so I guess he doesnt have a lot of options.

A couple of things I would have done was play Milner at RB as playing Neco, Rhys amd Tsimikas was a bridge too far for a back four.

But then who plays in midfield when you need to rest Fabinho. I would have played Taki in front of Div too.

Klopp did not have much to work with sadly.

Liverpool bench
