Had literally never heard of Ejaria, but wow he was impressive.
Mane also pretty impressive, will cause a few head aches with his pace this year for sure!

INB4 people say Ejaria is the next Pogba!

Seriously though, massively impressed by this young lad and he's only what? 18? even if it only was against Tranmere. Also really loved the look of Woodburn and Alexander Arnold. We're definitely loaded with young talent in the academy that's for sure, and that's not even mentioning Gomez, Ojo, Randall, Brannagan, Kent, and Allan.

Great to see Ings and Markovic back. Mane and Matip had solid debuts.

Loved hearing all the greatest hits from the supporters: "we've got the best midfield in the world" and the Luis Garcia and Maxi Rodriguez songs made me smile. :thumbsu:

  • Klopp really likes tall players. I'm sure everyone noted that we were zonal marking which is always risky.
  • Klopp also really likes fast players. I don't mind that. Barca v Real style snobbery which rates tech skill as a must doesn't stop direct football from working. We may have also spent 30M on Mane because he's the only who's got the build to fill out the shoulders of our new kit. Poor quality, Oz.
  • Ejaria was good. Although somehow looked tired. I wonder if he's still growing.
  • Brannagan is smooth and occasionally easily-confused for a further away Kent. If Brannagan was as fast and persistent as Kent he'd be a homebrand Coutinho. Both could turn out to be more than useful.
  • I would've liked more shots. But y'know pre-season.
  • Matip's first 'tackle' was as bad as that highlights reel online that shows him fouling and falling over all the time. And passed the ball straight to them for their 10min chance, as well as made another wholly unconvincing attempted intercept. Finally had a good touch with 10secs to go in the 1st half.
  • Lucas still fouling (fouling well to break up play and not get cards, I mean).
  • Firmino still equally good and wasteful, but I like the J-League haircut.
  • Karius should go to the same hairdresser.
  • Mane, Ings and Origi are the same player but with different upgrades.
2nd half:
  • Randall has stepped up.
  • Wisdom 4x as useful a defender having had a year at Norwich and being played in the centre. Still, Gomez should be a long way ahead of him there.
  • Lazar still wants to pass more than shoot and seemingly for good reason. More concerning was getting muscled off the ball and not looking to impose himself until half way through the half when he moved more central. Should be trying to make an impact wherever he starts. Mane a long way ahead of him.
  • Moreno also didn't try and impress. He has less need to, though, and may be concentrating on defensiveness which won't show up against Tranmere.
  • Ings seems the same, no impact from the injury.
  • Stewart and A-A in particular great in the build-up to his goal.
  • We still own Illori
But pre-season.

Didn't realise Matip was such a giant. I thought because he can play DM he was a more mobile type - just looked it up he's 1.95; Sakho is 1.87 and Lolren is 1.88. Hopefully we play him on Andy Carrol.

Fleetwood in 5 days, Sakho and Grujic should be back.

Probs will be way off lol but here's my predicted 1st half 11

Ings
Coutinho-Ejaria-Mane
Brannagan-Grujic
Moreno-Sakho-Matip-Randall
Karius

2nd half 11

Firmino
Kent-Arnold-Markovic
Lucas-Stewart
Smith-Lovren-Wisdom-Flanagan
Bogdan

Subs: Ilori, Chirivella, Woodburn, Kane
Grujic & Sakho will play, both should be training tomorrow. Coutinho may be back training early on Monday instead of taking the rest of the month off like some of the players that were on International duty.

Expecting Chirivella, Ilori and Woodburn to make way for the 3 I mentioned.

Also Ibe and Balotelli are set to leave soon so they won't take part in any friendlies.

No idea what's going on with Fulton, thought we'd try to sell Bogdan and then Fulton would get some friendlies under his belt.

Luis Alberto wasn't picked yesterday because he's not fit enough yet. Doesn't look to be taking his chance with Klopp while Ejaria and Arnold did.

After spending the season in league 2, he's now in league 1.

If Ward is loaned and Bogdan is sold then Shamal George will be the U21s keeper.

Not confirmed by either club yet, but here he is pictured with the squad.

Alberto has one foot out the door doesnt he. I thought that's why he, Balo and Ibe werent involved because they were close to the exit.

Just for clarification, does anyone know if LFCTV show games live or on delay?

Also, interesting to hear Klopp mention in the post match presser that the club is considering merging Melwood and the Kirby Academy together. Makes a lot of sense IMO.
