They both want 400k a week. It's not happening.
That is steep to be fair haha. But I mean that's what top players get paid in today's game and Mo and Mane are two of the best players on the planet so you cant really blame them I guess.

This has almost been a bigger problem that the transfer fees from the state ran clubs. City, PSG and in time I'm sure Newcastle, it's the wages they pay players that heavily skews the market. Transfers fees are whatever, you can still build a winning club by being smart in the transfer window like we have done. But keeping players, top players, who have turned into world beaters is too difficult when guys like KDB are on 450 etc and Salah and Mane are wondering why they arent on something similar.

The problem with paying them that much is you fall into the structural trap Man Utd and Arsenal are in of
1) handing out ridiculous contracts/wages to players, in their case often very average players;
2) their teammates wanting comparable money and
3) struggling to sell average players in both points 1 and 2, since they're often unwilling to take an inevitable pay cut.
It's very hard to extricate yourself from this without a complete clearout, which is made more difficult by point 3.

I guess these sort of posts will be seen in the Bayern thread next year

Isn't that just kaiserchief, who starts the year full of bravado and then disappears without a trace when they get knocked out of the CL again

Sadio looks like he wants to do something different and has said he wont be extending his contract. So I dont believe it is a money thing.

Understandable as he has won everything possible with us and isnt exactly a spring chicken.

Bayern would be a good move for Sadio if we secured Nunez or similar as a replacement.

Salah on the other hand has been ready to sign a new deal for ages but at 400k plus per week.

If information around salaries is true, and Mane has been dutifully earning $100k per week for the last few years, I can understand why he wants a big payday elsewhere.

But if it is north of $200k, it's almost certainly not coming from Liverpool. The strategy used under Klopp has worked, and I don't think it's about to change.

Mane is leaving.

Salah will too unless the club meets his demands. If he does as reported and move to another PL club, his legacy will be tarnished IMO.

If Bayern doesn't wanna pay up then may as well keep Sadio until his contract runs out, I'm sure he'll be professional enough to accept it

Joyce also said we'd lookat Darwin Nunez but would imagine Man Utd is in front in that race

Bayern need to offload Lewy first dont they?

Salah now in what can only be described as "outright hostility" to the club. This is a real problem now.
Does feel like we've reached an end point to a degree with this group of players. Fantastic journey, everyone bought in, some very significant wins along the way and some where we got very close but just short.

Perhaps it's the right time for a squad refresh, before there's a drop off in performance.

Yeah it's starting to get ugly. At least he has guaranteed to be here next year so even if he walks, we get one more season of the great man. Unlike Mane who has pretty much said he is off.

I dont believe that "wants a new challenge" bullshit either. Sadio wants more money and you cant blame him, he's been criminally underpaid for years. He's been on around 100k a week and he's on par with anyone at the club for performance yet VVD is on 220k as is Mo etc so he's on less than half of what his peers get.

I dont even know what Sadio is asking or if there has even been discussions but both Sadio and Mo have been acting real weird in the media. Sadio with all the lost in translation stuff and Mo dodging scans and both talking to the media quite a bit. It's a sad end. It's fairly different to how Bobby has been going about it.

Mane is on £200,000 per week according to a website I saw on Facebook this morning. They upgraded his contract with an extension back in 2019.

i think The Senegalese King wanted a bit more recognition overall. but it's cool. replace them both with shit hot 23-26 year olds, like they were when they came in, and keep destroying.
