Did they try going through the middle at all? Seemed like all attacks were via Trippier or Walker and if it made to Rice it was rinse and repeat….

At times but Denmark were set up well defensively and didn't give them any space to get the ball into Trent. Often he was going deep into his own half to get the ball. Denmark allowed them to go out wide since Trippier and Walker aren't the best offensively and were then able to handle Bellingham and Foden.

Trent will absolutely be made the scapegoat. Southgate already talking about it in the post match presser about TAA in midfield being an experiment and they dont have a replacement for Kalvin Phillips which is hilarious. He will be on the bench for the final group game.

It's crazy to me that he is literally a generational talent and he's in his mid 20's with only 25 or so caps for England all because Southgate is an idiot.

It must be painful for the Liverpool and City lads in particular to go from someone like Klopp and Guardiola to Southgate. They must have zero confidence in him.

England were pretty average. Southgate needs to go or England are gonna miss another "golden" generation.
England have the same stupid problem every time they play. They pick their best 11 players and shoehorn a team together instead of picking their best team.

TAA is a right back until Liverpool make him a midfielder. You cannot expect TAA to show up for his country half a times a year and magically become a midfielder.

Yeah they did it with the first golden generation by refusing to drop Lampard to make the midfield more balanced. They just insisted on playing him with Gerrard that never worked.

And Scholes and Beckham as well. Just shoehorn them all in.
The England team has always been an all star team IMHO. ZOMG they so good look at the goals!!! Chuck them all together, same type of player and position, and england wonder why they sucked

The mid 2000s English team had no area of deficiency, they just didn't pick the best players at each position.

This current team clearly does not have enough really good more-defensive minded midfielders.
